Looking through Dallas' GDT's from last season ..out of the 26 games where the lineups are listed pre game..Dickenson plays C on 17 of those...9 on the wing.

He only played 3C four times..and 1 C eight times...It also appears that he played more in the top 6 than the bottom 6.
That just makes his offensive numbers from last year even more depressing to look at lol, clearly there isn't some untapped offensive potential with this player. He's a checker first and foremost.

He hits with bad intentions which is something weve missed on our team for a while.

Him, Lockwood and Woo could play a much needed heavy game for or team

He hits with bad intentions and the other teams will retaliate and injure Petey and Hughes or he catches a beating himself . Outside of Horvat and MacEwen, we don't have anyone who can fight decently. Pod is too young to play the enforcer. We have one of the softest teams in the league but not good enough to overcome this weakness. The defence is not only bad but also soft as hell.

Horvat will 'drop the gloves' but I don't think you want him in the penalty box (who the **** will be the checking centre that can actually take faceoffs?:naughty:) but he's not that particularly good in the fisticuffs department.

I didn't know Dickinson plays this physical of a game actually. Hope he can keep it up.

He doesn't usually? Like I said in the GDT, that game was a huge outlier amongst all of the games I've ever seen him play.

In 19-20 he had a full NHL season with 6 PIM. His hit totals are pretty middling for a bottom-6 guy. He's not 'soft' but he's generally more in the Horvat/Beagle realm of physicality from what I've seen.

Been waaaay too many seasons in a row where the Canucks have only have one guy who actually hits. Seeing Dickinson and Lockwood line guys up and dish them out has been really refreshing. Would be nice to see Vancouver be a little harder to play against this season.

You are suggesting we don't hit because other team might get mad? You have seen playoff hockey? Hitting is part of the game and not hitting is rarely an option when both teams are competitive. You do not need to fight to hit. I am not suggesting dirty hits targeting other team's best players but finishing your check when in position.

Still early but I just don’t see much in this player.

I wonder if he's injured. He's not playing like he did in the preseason. Even against his former team there was no jump whatsoever. Right now, Garland and Pods are playing very well with Dickinson but those two are obviously driving the line. In terms of shot suppression, he has come as advertised so far (small sample size).

Dick has not been impressive from afar.
Paid to be a decent defensively *center* but he'd be ok as a defensive winger. In his current role, all he's good at is shutting down the offense as his wingers. Course he'd also be paid alot less. DimJim likes to overpay for role players which isn't terrible if said player's were actually good in those roles.

He’s an upgrade over Beagle, Sutter & Lammikko but doesn’t have enough offensive skill to be a good 3rd line centre. Good possession numbers and 5-on-5 play, poor at face-offs and on the PK.

He looks like a decent 4th liner to me

Warning signs were there. Bad at faceoffs. Had subpar offensive production playing with guys like Benn and Gurianov.

Not a crippling contract by any means, just an annoying one

He comes as advertise. A former 1st rounder that was propped up by a good Guelph team (Bertuzzi, (mostly) Suter, Fabbri, McGinn). Probably the reason why Benning targeted him. Was also seen as a "two way defensive specialist" because he saw some time with Gurianov and Faksa and put up some points.

I guess there's progress. We've gone from a 4.5 mil 4th line C in Sutter to Beagle @ 3 mil to now Dickinson 2.65 mil. Maybe under 2 mil by 2025?

Needs more games

I also had him playing with Motte on my pre-season lineups.

Motte is the perfect winger for Dickinson because Motte knows C and they can share responsibilities.
Pearson should be on the other side imo.

The guy does dick all when it comes to helping us win. You don't give money and term to these types(facepalm, we just got rid of our overpaid bottom 6ers). We are always playing from behind, so this guy is %100 useless to us. What is the point of a defense-only player, if you can never get the lead? How are his faceoffs? How is our PK doing? Absolutely the wrong player for this team.

Dickinson sure looks like an energy winger to me. I think at some point Miller has to go back into the 3C spot. Canucks are too weak down the middle with their current lineup.

Well last year the Canucks were like the worst defensive team 5 v 5 team so...

But that means that any line he is on, will virtually never come out on top. You win by scoring more goals, not breaking even-and that is the best this overpaid player can do. Beagle 2.0

he was quite good (dare I say great) at even strength last year, but his faceoffs this year had been atrocious, hes not assertive enough in PK also. Of course having a guy like Danault as your 3C would be nice chipping in like 40 pts a year. But a player like Blueger in Pittsburgh with little offense works also.... I was expecting that type of contribution coming in, but so far, Dickinson has been underwhelming.

Its his first time adjusting to a new organisation that plays horrible D, so I am not going to judge him based on an 11 game sample size. But yeah, he's not that culture changer so far.

Have you not watched the last 2 games? Dickinson's line with Garland and Pods have been excellent. The contribution that Dickinson makes on that line may be questionable but they've been "coming out on top."
