" Elite" defensive center who can't win faceoffs and can't put more than 10 pts/ season if he is not playing on the first 2 lines. I've never seen a guy this devoid of offensive talent playing in the NHL other than some goons.
If he keeps this up, i;m going to miss Tim Schaller. :D

Sadly i dont think Dickerson is a C but I do see him having a spot on the team in the future for his defensive skills. If you put him on a line with lets say Garland and Horvat that would probably be his ideal deployment. Doesnt have to take faceoffs and isnt relied on to produce any offensive

Dickinson can be our overpriced 4th liner. He kills offense too well to be playing with Garland, Horvat or any of our other inconsistent or underperforming top six guys. A playmaking center as our 3C to play with Hoglander and Podkolzin, or Pearson and Garland, or who ever, should be a priority for this team to compete. But are we honestly competing still?

Let’s see, we have 2 offensive black hole on the wings in Pearson and Dickinson costing us like 5.5M? That’s a lot of money paid to guys who suck at PK and can’t score.

At least Pearson can get hot on Horvat;s wing from time to time. Dickinson would shut Horvat down playing on his wing more than any Selke caliber center in the NHL I don;t want Bo to finish the season with 30pts.

When was the last time he was hot?

At least Dickinson stepped up and fought Hutty after a knee, that alone still puts him above most on the effort list for this season so far

I dislike Pearson and wanted him traded but he is a better player than Dick.
Pearson was fairly good (my opinion) for a bit but tailed off since then (I wouldn't have re-signed him given our cap constraints). He'll *FOREVER* have my gratitude for saving me from watching that REAL piece of **** NoGoodBranSuck in a Canucks uniform.

Macewen could of done that for 825k

Im not gonna lie, when we traded for him i had no idea who he was. But the general consensus on this board was is that he was a defensive center that was lacking in the faceoff dot. Yet alot of people were excited about him.... Well its looking like hes coming as advertised. I think someone asked why he was Centering a line between Brock and Petey, well maybe its cause they wanted to free up Petey from his defensive responsibilities so he can get his offence going. It does make sense to me cause classic Petey and Brock were able to generate offence just by themselves.

keeping Beagle on the last year of his contract would've been better than bringing in this plug. At least beagle is Elite on the PK and faceoffs.

Well this is where Sutter comes in...... I didnt think it was possible to have Sutter and Beagle and downgrade the next year.

Sutter at least put up a solid season or two for us. Beagle? A slightly better version of Tim Schaller. Course, anybody with a pulse would be an upgrade over Tim Schaller. Heck, if you ignore his contract, Loui freaking E. was better than Tim Schaller.

Never understood why people seemed so happy we got this player (at least I think majority were fairly happy). He’s an offensive black hole and when you are that, you better make up for it elsewhere.

Welp....guess what he doesn’t make up for...

When you start to miss Beagle and Sutter, you know you are bad.

The main thing going for Pearson is that hes better than Dickinson, perhaps we should already extend again for that

For all the talk that Benning haters are just automatically negative, I think a lot of us here gave Dickinson the benefit of the doubt, and are sadly regretting it.

Pretty much. I wanted to see how his offense was away from the top Stars players though I suspected it wasn't going to be good. That was unfortunately the case. Right now this is a terrible signing as he just doesn't possess the abilities needed for the position he was signed to occupy. He can't play third line center and he definitely can't penalty kill. That said, even at $2.65 for another two years after this year it's not a crippling contract so it has that going for it.

"Well at least it's not crippling" is the best we can say about most (but not all) of Benning's moves lol

A lot of the focus has been on Benning not being able to put together a defence but it seems he also can't put together any sort of capable bottom-6, which should theoretically be easier as generally the price for a bottom-6 forward is a lot cheaper than a top-4 D-man both in terms of salary expectations and trade value.

All I can think of for solid bottom-6 contributions:
- One good season out of Dorsett
- One good season out of Sutter
- One good season out of Roussel
- Half~ a good season out of Motte

Granlund and Gagner for one season if they count?

That's about it over 7+ years lol

Trading a lot of picks and not hitting on many outside of the first two rounds certainly doesn't help either.
