The OP reads like one of those posts that every single fanbase could write if they add 5-10 extra goals to every single forward on the roster.

If I project career years for every forward on the Penguins, they too, could be the best and deepest forward group in the league.
Bingo. It’s summer. All new faces are gonna take another step on your team. All rookies and young players are going to improve in a linear fashion. Anybody who was a statistically hot last year is going to maintain that while anybody who has bad luck is certainly going to turn it around. Injuries? Lol. If all this stuff happens at once to *my* team you certainly can’t argue against the notion that they are gonna be really good!

Putting whether or not the Canucks are deep aside, some people are confusing "deep" for "best". A deep group of forwards can still be average overall if you lack elite talent at the top.

The question to ask regarding the Canucks fwd group isn't whether they could score or not...but can they improve their overall team defense so they won't get scored on?

The jury is out imo.

With the deepest forward group in the league, Demko in net, and a supposed star in Hughes - the Canucks better make a run in the playoffs.

Personally, I think they miss. Pettersson, who should be the best forward on the team, seems to be inconsistent thus far and shows up in bunches. Defence seems marginal at best. If they make a splash, it's likely on the back of Demko being a top 5 goalie.

I kinda think we’re going to win the division if Miller stays. Pacific is weak and we’re extremely underrated.

so how's the PP time getting distributed?
This is the most interesting part about the team, but it's safe to say guys like Pearson will have reduced powerplay time this year. Alex Chiasson's time is also going to be up for grabs. On defense Brad Hunt saw decent time too, and he is gone. Altogether that is about 300 powerplay minutes which are up for grabs, with the majority of those minutes at forward. It also remains to be seen whether someone like Hoglander seen his minutes increase or decrease.

I'm expecting Rathbone to consume Brad Hunt's powerplay minutes, and Kuzmenko and Mikheyev to consume Pearson and Chiasson's minutes. Pearson will be used in a defensive deployment/PK. He is good at that stuff, and can chip in ES offense playing with responsible linemates.

It's a deep group of Forwards, but it's definitely more "quantity over quality" for the most part. And it's a bit oddly configured, in that to actually make use of the depth on the Wings, you pretty much have to split Pettersson/Miller/Horvat onto 3 separate lines as Centers. Which probably doesn't use all of them to maximum effect. Have to play some kinda mediocre wingers a lot of minutes to match what those Centers should probably each be playing.

And the defence is pretty laughable. Two quality Top-4D, and a chaos giraffe is NOT a contender caliber defence corps.

Sabres actually have a very interesting group of forwards. Will be exciting to watch this year.

The lineup could have many changes but ngl it looks deep

You think Vancouver signed Mikheyev to that contract to play on the third line?

Are you aware there was noise that Ilya's camp may have asked for a trade from the Leafs in the past because he was on the third line? Why would he sign with another team to get the same treatment? Doesn't add up...

Don't get me wrong I liked Mikheyev if he gets 2nd line minutes he'll get his 20G, healthy even 25 IMO.

I think people forget the Canucks have a few players on the verge of really breaking out. I wouldn't be surprised to see big years from:

Pettersson
Boeser
Podkolzin
Hughes
Miller

Then an abundance of depth scoring in Garland/Horvat/Kuzmenko/Mikheyev/Hoglander/Pearson

They're defiantly not the best, but I'd say at least top 10 forward group. I also really like the 4th line with Joshua-Lazar. Might just bookmark this thread so I can respond to all the blatant Canucks haters come next April. 15th-20th now that's some funny shit.

Posts like the OP's should stay as conversation in rec league locker rooms after 3 or 4 toonie cooler beers.

I have hope for this upcoming season and actually plan to watch a good number of the games ( possibly even go see a couple live ) but I have no parade plans and won't even let the thought of playoffs enter my mind until they prove that the way they played under Bruce was the Mean and not the Median.

Saying “this guy could score ____, this guy could score ____”, and then adding it all up never works lol. We’ve all done that with our favourite team when we were 12. There is only so much ice time, and power play time, the coach will have his favourites, things like injuries happen, and then guys will regress or have down years, etc. How long have you been a fan? Lol.

Good chance McDavid and Draisaitl alone will score more goals than those 3 combined...Now add the Oilers 3rd center and it's not even close
..Who is the Oilers 3rd center anyways ?? Lol...Also if you were going to offer me the Nuck's 1,2 and 3 C's to start a team or M and D I think you know who I'm taking.
