Gillis had two top-10 picks and made very reasonable, solid choices with them.Good thing that Mike knew what he was doing since he was going to trade Cory for the 9th overall only if Bo was still available.
The funniest thing is that Bo Horvat will be the best player we've drafted since 1999 with the exception of Quitt Hughes. Skinny had a higher peak but overall career and consistency will go to Horvat.
I'm 100% convinced that Gillis would have done much better than Jimbo with the 1st round picks and it's not like Benning killed it in the late rounds where his scouting skills should mattered the most. Demko was Jimbo's best hit considering where he was drafted but he was made of glass.
Jim Benning completely busted a 6th and 5th overall, and would have busted the Petey pick by taking Glass if he weren't overruled by Linden.
The Benning talent evaluator narrative was never true, and it's completely laughable people were trying to sell it when he was hired.
