So hellebuyck another one of them that jumps ship when things get rough? Just one year? Damn that was fast. Absolute garbage players. Winnipeg also a team Thats been very good for the last 7 years.
Jump ship? Wtf is this?
Dude is 33 years old and has one chance left to win the cup. He wasted his prime with the Jets? Jets are not and won't be a good team. Mediocre land is where they'll be and where the've been in the last 5 years: 2 playoff misses, 2 1st round exits and 1 2nd round exit. LA Kings had more success than the Jets in the last 5 years and they are the defition of mediocre.

He has to own some of those playoff losses though as well. It’s not like the Jets weren’t a good team. But he didn’t play up to his standards.

Americans.
And there are people defending these guys ! I can’t believe this. They are sooo fixated on chase Reid they are going out of the way to defend these guys that just quit after one bad year ? If anything is Connor helleybuck playing like shit to cause his team to miss but hey he suck’s, yea and ? Be part of the solution or be an absolute quitter like quitter Hughes.

Hitting the cap floor really isn't an issue.

The cap floor for this year is set at 76.9 million. Canucks are currently at 82 million. Trading Hronek is 7.25m, which leaves us at 74.75 million. Trading Debrusk is 5.5m which then leaves us at 69.25 million. Assuming no other trades because I'd rather just try to rehab Petey's value and keep Boeser we would just need to sign players up to 5m to hit the cap floor. Not to mention us acquiring Gallagher (supposedly) which would put him at 6.5m which allows us to easily hit the cap floor. Then you sign more UFAs in the off season by fewer years higher AAV.

Also, there's teams like Dallas looking to offload Lybushkin which is 3.25m

Canes with Kotkaniemi at 4.82m

Don't think hitting the cap floor is an issue at all.

Trade vets, acquire cap dumps for picks and prospects and sign UFAs to hit the cap floor and for leadership.

Just sign players like Schenn, Stecher, Tolvanen, Mantha, Arvidsson, Jenner and just tell them that they'll be flipped at the deadline if possible.

We need to be careful of not being the Hawks though. What’s Bedard? Minus 100? We need to protect the young guys, while they mature into experienced nhlers. Play EP40, Boeser, Hronek, DOC and let them take the big “dashes”.

I feel like I’m actively becoming more stupid the more I am exposed to your posts.

We wouldnt trash Canadians for wanting to play in Canada... I dont understand why we do it with Americans.

Players only have so many years of playing years and it could end with one bad injury. I dont blame guys for wanting to try to win before it is over. Yolo.

canada already have seen 2 American captains not extend and wanted to test ufa.

Quinn Hughes decided on this 3 years before his ufa, heck that loser, even double downed on it, and forced a trade. If you can name me an example of a Canadian players completely quitting go ahead.

if canadian teams were better managed this would be a non-issue. no one thought it was unfair when tavares signed in toronto and cole caufield and lane hutson aren't trying to get traded out of montreal

I don't think Eklund trade was 'knee jerk', they got an offer they couldn't refuse. A knee jerk decision would've been selling Eklund for whatever 'win-now' middle pair Dman they get so that they could take Stenberg.
It totally is “knee jerk”. Eklund was part of the core they were undoubted planning around. They made an unforeseeable pivot because it made sense value wise.

Tearing down is easy, coming back up isn't - especially in this new era of cap growth & player empowerment. Gotta be mindful before you turn the roster into a barren wasteland like Chicago did. Especially since we have young players on the roster/entering the roster already.
I agree that you want to insulate the kids. I’m not advocating trading away all veterans suitable replacement veterans. But in this new era, I think it’s even more important than ever to trade our veterans and get assets back for them. There is a massive lack of talent in the NHL which, together with a huge amount of available cap space, means teams trying to come out of a rebuild have to pay unprecedented prices to acquire talent. To put it another way, it’s way harder now to acquire talent from avenues outside of the draft. So we better be getting futures back from our veterans and amass as much talent as possible through the draft.
