I think Frondell is one of those guys too. Levshunov was a chance at getting one and they missed no doubt. And outside the top 5 there's no guarantee you are getting one unless falls someone to you that shouldn't - re: Korchinski pick. (And your right he's definitely busting, I thought he was drafted too high aswell)

If you look at Anaheim their elite pieces are really Carlsson & Gauthier - and to a lesser extent Sennecke - but its not like they had 5 of them coming in at once. Dostal & LaCombe are obviously pillars aswell but those were guys drafted awhile before whom took time to get where they are at now like any non top pick would (and obviously given the position).

So I don't think its usual you get more than 2-3 of them that burst on to the scene in short order.

For Toronto was Matthews/Marner/Nylander, San Jose right now is pretty much just Celebrini though Stenberg & Misa could be that level next year aswell - I view Smith more as a support piece than an individual driver.

I like the idea of Malhotra where he goes to BU & you delay his arrival a bit, and even if the Canucks miss on Dupont but get someone like Sundstrom/Joseph (and they hold as potential elite 1C's), then you have the makings of a contending level C group.

We'll see how it goes. Who would you go with? Carels?

ANA having Carlsson breakout as a 1C, Gauthier and Sennecke as 1Ws, and Lacombe as a 1D all at the same time is what broke them out of their quasi-rebuilding. Four key, core young players. Chicago has 1, maybe 2.

I've said many times before, if Stenberg is there, he by far top of the board. After that it's a big gap, but I would go Malhotra at 3.

I agree to an extend to both. At some point if he is to become captain, Hronek should understand that he will HAVE to deal with the media on a semi-regular basis. Now you don't have to be a media darling, or super funny, or super charming, you can do the bare minimum lip service and let your leadership/competence to most of the talking. I'm not against that.

Like most jobs, interacting with people you don't like is just the reality. More often than not you just gotta do what you gotta do, even if it means only putting in minimum effort.

I would be shocked if Carolina makes that big of a change after winning the Cup. Committing $8+ mill in cap x 6 years to an underperforming player that has apparent work ethic issues would be a massive gamble that could shut their window down immediately.

Also to add, Kot was in the press box the entire playoffs. Its not a 'add' of 11.6M its a 6.78 cap hit increase if they dump kot

Not gonna age well. Tuch is already slowing down significantly. Without his trademark size/speed combo, not really sure what kind of player he is.

But after OVI retires, I guess they have room for one slow, stationary guy that just shoots a lot.

I haven’t followed Zary, but would he be a worthwhile age gapper for a 2nd? Probably the SJ 2nd in our case.

If Hronek is staying, and in a leadership capacity, then I want to see him doing a metric ton of interviews over the season.

He will waive by the end of next season because of this, no way he wants to go in front of the media loss after loss

as rj, the sedins, and manny have all stated, they won't be naming a captain until somebody steps up and makes it painfully obvious that he's the guy.
