Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | You incurred Vector's wrath and broke the site.

More than anything, he's the guy who's furthest away from the NHL and therefor the most expendable.

Honestly I think if we are patient with Mynio it’ll pay better dividends long term than Kud who is closer to NHL action but does he play the right side and will he get any PP time with Hughes and Hronek being here?

As far as stock goes I think showing well at the AHL so early after drafting goes so much further than 3 WJC games for (most) GMs

So who are we trading on D this offseason to help on forward?

Junior
Willander
Mancini
Kudrasev
Mynio

At least one of those will be traded me thinks.

If Kudrasev or Mynio can help get you the top 6 players (we need 2 imo) we need then you do it in heartbeat as hard to see there be any space for any of them for the foreseeable future.

If it's the choice of Junior or Willander I'm trading Willander as he would get us an absolute haul or a top line stud. Junior at this point doesn't carry near the same value.

I'm optimistic thou we will find a way to improve the team without having to do that. One high profile FA and one trade with whatever assets we can cobble together that don't include Willander or Junior and boom we are right back in it......

1. No he's not.

2. He's a B-tier prospect. He's not returning much in a trade on his own. If the Canucks want a top-six forward, D-Petey isn't pulling one in a trade.
Never said he's returning a top 6 player. But he would most certainly go top 15 and probably top 10 in a redraft. I value him the same as Willander right now and that's no disrespect to Wil.

Calling him a B tier prospect shows you don't know very much about gauging the talent of young NHL prospects.

He absolutely would not go top-10 in a re-draft today. In terms of league wide prospect value, yes, he is a B-tier asset.

That you value him so highly just shows you don't know about the rest of the league and have rose-coloured glasses for Canucks prospects.

@MS

I need your professional scouting skills here for some input.

Well there is a big difference in value of a top 6 winger and top 6 center. Saying top 6 player is such a dumb term when we how much this league values centers over wingers. The only time wingers have legit value is if they are elite or cost controlled otherwise they are pretty indispensable.

Ironically the Canucks finally are in need of top 6 wingers and it's never been harder to acquire them. Feels like we've always had too many and always trying to get rid of one.

Boeser disappearing has left a really big hole in this roster combined with Miller leaving.

Taking a glance at the list of NHL scoring leaders makes for ugly reading these days if you're a Canucks fan.

If you throw out Quinn Hughes' numbers; the top scoring forward on the Canucks is Elias Pettersson with 42 points. That places him 125 on the list of scoring leaders. Garland is just behind him at 126.

This edition of the 2024-25 Canucks could be the answer to a trivia question. When was the last time a team without a single forward in the top 120 of league scoring ever made the playoffs? And if they did, how many rounds did they win?

Little wonder that so many of the games the Canucks have played this season have been absolute 'snooze-fests'. Even at home, it's often been about exciting as watching paint dry.

In terms of offense-- you know goals and assists--this team is every bit as bad as any in dark Jim Benning era.

Eh. I'm not saying he's top ten in a redraft. But toolsy guys like him who are late developers with unknown ceilings are worth a lot. Though generally in the 'so let's not trade him' sense moreso than the 'let's deal a top 6 center for him' sense.

But I don't think it's homer glasses to, somewhat tentatively, value him really highly.

Rick Dhaliwal was on with Kypreos and Bourne on Friday. For someone in the market, he has very little grasp on the market itself.

He said Tocchet doesn't have a contract, that's not entirely true as he has a team option that Allvin has said he sees as an extra year, hence the lack of urgency to talk longer extension with tocchet.

He painted this picture about the media getting to tocchet. How it's this massive situation. The media got to green, it didn't get to boudreau, but it's definitely getting to tocchet. Based on comments he's made.

This is also completely misunderstood by Rick. Tocchet's recent comments were entirely directed at Farhan and they were entirely about the attempt at fabricating controversy over Boeser not wearing an 'A'.

Even in that scrum after tocchet got things off his chest he was joking around with kuzma, iMac etc.

When Rick isn't being fed information directly from an agent, he's clueless.
Rick Dhaliwal may be a nice guy and maybe he's intelligent in other areas of his life.

But his hockey opinions are those of a blathering moron. Yelling strong, ill considered, opinions about things he doesn't understand or half remembers.

I know I'm unusual on these boards in that I really enjoy Kyper and Bourne because, while they drop the odd bad take, they really understand the game and speak well about it.

But Dhaliwal's segment on that show was almost unlistenable. He's like the guy you hope doesn't notice your Canucks hat on the bus lest he start 'opining' about them.

Most interesting thing will be when we include our 2025 1st at the draft and hfboards crashes.
