I’m not even sure it is coming from Friedman. The Dhaliwal tweet saying “I wonder” is a reply to a tweet from yesterday quoting Friedman. Is it coming from Dhaliwal or Friedman?

I can't find a platform that Friedman has said anything on this morning but I don't know them all.

Agree with the others who mentioned Maccelli as a buy-low reclamation project. Really creative player, could have some chemistry with Petey. Very efficient even-strength scorer prior to tumbling down the lineup this season.

Soucy for Maccelli? Lol. Roughly equal salary, one year left on each deal.

I really like this idea. Fits for Soucy, geographically. Not sure on the Utah end but I don’t think anyone has a good read on that front office.

I guess it depends on whether the Canucks think they can get an asset back or not. They can waive him at any time but they don't really need the cap space at the moment.

Only 3 teams have the cap space right now

The point is he's a negative value asset on his contract and like i said in my original post you're not trading him right now as a depressed asset...would be a poor decision
A negative asset isn't the same as a depressed asset. I can buy the agreement that he's a depressed asset, but he is not a negative one.

here's my really boring story no one cares about. was out w some buddies on friday when that marcus pettersson trade went down

him: "canucks made a trade"

me: "let me guess, it's heinen or desharnais"

him: it's both

me: "oh they took them both and packaged them as salary with the pick for someone"

him: yeah ok so where

me: "yeah not philadelphia because they just made a trade. hmm, pittsburgh...

him: okay yeah WHO

me: MARCUS PETTERSSON & bryan rust?

him: not rust

me: DREW OCONNOR

him: wtf

me: you know i wonder if they trade soucy now

Friedman says "I wonder if this thing will happen" and then Brough tweets "this thing is happening, according to Friedman". Vancouver hockey news in a nutshell.
Or rick dhawliwai's I wonder which also means its gonna happen sooner rather than later. why did soucy get an ntc to boot with his contract.. i think teams would give up a 3rd or 4th. they can trade him on friday again haha or wednesday. if he gets scratched tonight against colorado.. theres your answer.

They have Cole and Maatta on their second and third pairing left side already so I’d be surprised if they want Soucy as well.

Maybe you could do something based around Hoglander and Soucy for Maccelli and Cole but that feels like a stretch.

Agreed except for the bolded. There’s been little to no evidence that this would be true.

Well I know what you're getting at but RT also had 952 points in 1144 NHL games and played with some of, if not the best offensive teams and players in history. Surely he has some experience and knowledge regarding the subject. I think he just correctly knows defence wins championships, and our team is not built to play wide open either.

He can get better of course and our offence is definitely stifled but I think he's played it very well here. I mean he won the coach of the year and some people are pretty quick to turn on him now. Personally I think it's our lack of gifted offensive players more than anything. You can't just make Heinen, Juulsen, Hoglander, Suter, Joshua, Blueger, PDG, Raty, Karlsson, Soucy, Myers, Forbort, produce all of the sudden. Having zero impact forwards in the system is a killer imo.

I just don’t understand what the hell happened to Soucy here.

Forget his poor defensive play and playing 2-3 more minutes than his career average this season.

He had snarl, physicality, crease clearing ability that got him into the NHL in the first place. None of that here at all. Just so non chalant and laissez faire. Taking bad penalties and then chuckling his way to the penalty box. No emotion. No urgency or passion. He really could’ve been a fan favourite. He was someone I really wanted for a number of years and was extremely happy we actually signed a big defenseman like him with snarl. Zero of that here.

He's a good support player with size but he's getting exposed big time without a Cole type player in the system. I suspect he'll be a lot better behind MPetey and Hughes.

This would be a great trade but would they go for it? Maybe, dmen are valuable if they have use for him.

I'm not sure, but their defensive depth has been in flux all season.

Tourigny really hasn't found much use for Maccelli this season though. Seems like an expendable piece to them, considering he won't get back in the top-six

That's what I thought too. They've had all kinds of troubles including injuries early on. Apparently their left side is pretty solid now though with Cole and Matta, although I think Matta is UFA next year. I wonder if a Hoglander swap might be an option. Do you have any views on Macelli's defensive side compared to Hoglander?
