Mateiko scored such timely goals in the WJC, size is amazing and the skating looked fine, and is likely to have a big postseason. Likeliest to contribute above replacement level of guys remaining.

Franks age puts him out of the prospect conversation for me

Went Rybinski. He has gotten lost in the shuffle a bit this year with the hype surrounding other prospects. Doesn’t project to be more than a third liner at best but I like his game a lot and he has shown great growth each year at the AHL level. Super high compete level and never stops moving his feet. He’s missed some time with injuries so hopefully the second half of the season is big for his development. He did earn that random call up but didn’t get into a game.

Went Mateiko as I was very impressed with poise in the WJC. Reminded me of bigPro in many ways... deliberate, poised, seeing the game well. And big.

I'll admit recency and certainly I've-seen-him-but-not-the-others-play bias. I kinda think he is currently in another cluster of valuable prospects, albeit each with different attributes, and at very different stages of development. Chesley, Iorio, and Allen all roughly together for me. And Allen also seems to have a real chance to jump up, but I can only call that a hunch until we see how he handles the transition when he goes pro.

I went Vinny largely based on his proximity to the NHL. Ceiling is potentially higher for Allen/Chesley, but I'm not sure it's that much higher. Given that, I went for the 'safe' option which is the guy with 9 NHL games, 1 NHL playoff games, and well over 100 AHL games who seems ready to be a full-time NHLer next year.
