It’s just a total fundamental failure to understand how sports works.

People set up an expectation for something that was never going to happen and are now having a tantrum when it predictably isn’t happening

Errrr...............Hard disagree. If we didn't have a meddling owner we would have been sellers here. It's clear we are sorely outclassed by the heavyweights of the league - last Colorado game was incredibly evident that we would not be able to keep up as they skated circles around us........and most of the contenders got better this deadline........

We aren't going anywhere this year.........if you think 3 games of home playoff revenue is worth what we could have gotten for the assets we have to flog I don't know what to say........

Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward..........I get the desire for playoff revenue but in this case it's very short sighted........barring a God mode Demko we are fish food for the league heavyweights.......we aren't there yet and if there ever was a time to sell it was this deadline......Luke Schenn for a 2nd and a 4th round pick? Really?

I don’t really buy the playoff revenue argument. Functionally there’s no difference between selling and refusing to buy - you’re just trading an actual cost for an opportunity cost. It’s not like the team as currently constructed is at some magical level of competitiveness such that they are maximizing their odds of making it.

The psychology piece, yeah I get that.
The reality is that hard core fans have a long term interest in the team, whereas the organization, for various reasons, have very short term interests. And the fans aren’t wrong for wanting the team to take a longer term view. Unfortunately, this organization has proven time after time that they aren’t willing to take a long term view.

So I think people can be angry. But they probably shouldn’t be surprised.

How are they late in their window lmao Brent Burns is 39, sure, but have you seen the prospects they got ready to come in? They're going to be just fine, they're not even remotely on the clock

Their entire D save Chatfield is over 30 and they’re already having their worst year since before COVID after losing a bunch of guys last year and not really replacing them.

They aren’t Nashville but they’ve been a top-5 ish team for the last 5 years and that’s closing off for them very quickly.

Every franchise in every sport operates like this. Again : total failure to understand how sports work.

It’s pretty obvious they’re re-signing Boeser and caving to 7 years. The self-rental will be Pius Suter at this point

If they were operating the way you seem to think, wouldn't they be trying to improve the team for a playoff push? It's not like they have cap restraints.

I think management weighs games against contenders too highly. As if a good game against the Stars, Avs, or Toronto actually means we're at that level. You look at this roster and compare it to actual cup contenders, I just don't see how it measures up. We have one play driver in Quinn.

Had a quick look at the remaining 21 games, I see at least 8 highly likely losses.

If that is truly the case, we'd end up with 93 points. Even if PAC division turn out softer than normal, it's still gonna be a VERY tight chance to get into playoffs.

Nikishin in the wings, the only major concerns to fall off in the immediate future is Burns and Orlov - they've still got probably another 2-3 years before those other defensemen's ages start becoming of concern, and even then Tulsky will almost certainly figure it out

Why are Boeser and Suter still on this roster?
Because mgmt likely focused on acquiring Norris or Cozens and couldn't get a deal done.

Spent too much time (again) on acquiring one specific player they couldn't pivot in time.

I find it complete bullshit they couldn't trade Boeser given some of these prices.

In hindsight, we essentially traded a 4th round pick to Colorado for no reason. We have cap space which means f*** all this season.
