Totally different circumstances on moving Boeser vs those deals though, isn't it? Those other moves were being made with playoffs in mind, this move would be a step back (A necessary one at that) - we've seen nothing to suggest that they're willing to do that other than "rumors" - actions speak louder than words, and seeing Boeser out there on the ice should be really telling about which way this situation is heading.
We already know they're not taking a step back as it's been discussed already by insiders that any futures they'd get in a Boeser or Suter trade would be flipped pretty quickly for another player that can help them now.

Well there is 65 minutes left until the deadline, it isn't NHL GM mode that you can instantly turn around and make a deal within a minute with another organization lmao.

If contract talk is back, and both term and AAV are reasonable, OK fine.

But I get the feeling that this is nothing short of desperation, desperation to not look like failures.

This is my take as well. I'm happy to keep Boeser and Suter if they both re-sign. Keeping them as "own rentals" in a desperate attempt to get slaughtered by Winnipeg would be idiotic.

Sooo... guess what we'll do?

Basically probably right, they can't afford to not trade Boeser and have him walk, especially if they miss the playoffs, which they very easily could. I was hoping they'd swallow it and move him, but signing him is probably the next most likely option.

Which is an utter failure.

Gonna be another EP situation where they sign him and start to regret it very quickly.

EP was (and still probably is) our franchise player - a blank cheque for him how he was playing the past 2 years made all the sense in the world, and getting him on an 8 year deal was a win because there were rumors out there by credible people that he was going to want to leave.

Signing Boeser to a long term extension with what the market prices are for rentals would be far and away the dumbest thing this regime has done, that I will agree on.

Any Boeser contract is going to suck immediately.

He’s too slow and doesn’t drive play

Nucks have already acknowledged this.

People are going to bitch about it just like Petey’s deal as soon as next season.
