Wait, I'm actually very concerned if we trade him to the Canes we're going to get Kotkaniemi back - I'd almost rather let Brock walk than acquire Kotka as the main piece in a trade
KK would be tragic, we'd run out of forwards who can score goals or create space lol

Schenn getting dealt at the deadline every year for being a number 6/7 physical, character guy with a name that people recognize is always hilarious.

Change his last name/place of birth on his passport and the same player goes for a 4th. Absolutely loved him while a Canuck, but people put weird premiums on certain dudes. Laughton is another guy who's going to get an absurd amount for no reason one day.

You don't just sell sell sell every time you're close to the playoffs, it sends a terrible message to your captain and franchise player when you do that. If you find a deal that makes sense, sure, but Boeser for a first that will play in 3+ years from now isn't it unless you can flip it.

If you don't obtain it you can't trade it. It can be traded at anytime before now and the draft to help the team. We should be making every effort to make this team as good as possible in 2 years time. Combine it with our picks, two firsts, a second, and super high 3rd should be able to bring something substantial back. I would have zero worries about that.

No, you don't sell every time but it would be nice to try something else once in a blue moon besides not selling every time, and high risk gambling with the mediocre teams we usually have. Like this one.

I'm sure I'm on an island here but I wouldn't even mind just using the pick as well if it comes to it (It wouldn't though). We'll still have a team in 3 years I'm pretty sure. I would like to have good players then too. Ultimately we hope Quinn resigns, if so 3 years would actually be perfect for a player to arrive while Petey and Hughes are in their prime. I remember hearing the same argument 2/3 years ago and here we are in need of prospects to augment the team. Surprise surprise, hockey teams can use and always need good players all the time.

Yes to Kotkaniemi if he's not the centrepiece of the return and in fact increases the return. VAN can afford him, is thin at C. Just as long as they aren't fooling themselves into thinking he's a 2C...

Morning skate starts at 10:30. I wonder if they just tell all of them to go out there regardless of the deadline

Nothing is going to happen. You guys are getting your hopes up for nothing. This has the makings of a Jim Benning "we ran out of time" trade deadline.
