Frank No to packaging Hoglander to get rid of some trash contract
He drives offense at even strength.

The entire summer for the Canucks is going to be getting guys to take 250-500k less than they could get on the open market. NTC galore.

Hronek:
-admits he should have changed what he thought Hronek would get after their post-season ended
-Canucks were hyper focused on a 7 year deal
-getting to 8 years lowered the AAV
-Hughes and Hronek have a very tight relationship; Hughes wants to play with him
-made him their top priority
-biggest puzzle piece for the Canucks

Mikheyev:
-going to have to pull the trigger sooner rather than later
-will have to attach an asset to him
-other teams have told the Canucks they don't mind the player on that contract but aren't going to help them out; brings up the weirdness of what the Sharks did

Canucks Plan:
-Sign Hronek, move Mikheyev, re-sign Zadorov, go after Jake Guentzel
-not going to sit back
-realize the changes that need to be made with this team
-set and focused on what they want to do

Guentzel:
-don't think they will trade a draft pick because they don't need to
-doesn't know if they are favourites
-Canucks have made him their prime target
-doesn't care about how far he lives from his summer home; just wants the best fit
-8th year isn't a deal breaker
-Hurricanes offer is somewhere around 8y/just under 8m
-7/9.5m to beat the Hurricanes offer

Myers:
-thinks Myers is comfortable waiting
-won't allow himself to be taken advantage of
-Canucks may add term to lower the AAV but get the total salary

Silovs:
-asks if he's an offer sheet candidate
-someone told him that about Silovs this week

Mikheyev or Garland with Hoglander for a signed Necas and prospect?

If you compare those 3 garland and Hoglander drive offense at even strength which this team needs in regular season

Mikheyev doesnt

If you were to get rid of one or both of garland you better hope a player comes back who has the same play driving abailty

Reminds me of when the rangers traded Buch and less than a month later were looking for even strength play driversIMG_0257.jpeg

Term for Myers? Sweet Jesus.

I don't care what the AAV is, if it's like a 4-5 term I might puke.

Hogs can give us 30 goals for 1 milly

Absolute hard no, zero consideration, don't care who or what for, just NO.
If a team offered a first round pick between 19-23, Would you?

Last young goal scorer I can think of would be Hagel, he was better than Hoglander and had 2 more years at 1.5M. That Katchouk, Raddysh, and two conditional firsts that ended up being 19th and 20th oa.
Alex Newhook for 31st and 37th, he was RFA.

Wouldn’t 7x9 or 7x9.25 clearly beat 8 x 7.9 that the Canes are offering?

Even with the taxes, cost of living, whatever

8y/7.9m = 63.2m

7y/9m = 63m
7y/9.25m=64.75m

So no, not all that clearly and definitely not when you include taxes and cost of living.

almost how about Mikheyev and Garland with Hoglander for a Necas' rights, Guentzel's rights and KK negative contract.
Well at worst it is cap relief but then cap space in priceless.

Maybe with a conditional asset included. If Guentzel not signed the the asset improved or added, like 4th pick to 3rd and if niether then 3 becoming a 2nd or something like that

KK can play but not top six yet.

It would certainly improve them.

IMO no contender will sign a long term contract with Guentzel.

For Necas, maybe really rolling the dice but doable

what does that mean?
dictionionary.com put it best:

'the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.'

So, you spent a lot on Lindholm, don't compound your losses by committing too much resources to keep him. 'too much resources' in this case is overpaying cap and term required to keep him.

It's kind of silly how everyone is penciling him in the lineup.

Hunting the big UFA has really never worked out for most teams. Including the Canucks. I don't mind adding depth players but I would never add the big name.

No one took my Lafreniere offer sheet proposal last year...now who's laughing.

I mean...multiple sources are saying we're chasing him and have a reasonable good chance of being successful?
