The cost of living argument is so stupid. Especially pertaining to buying a home. You buy a house in Vancouver you'll make a bunch of money on that investment anyways. This only works when you have money, which NHL players do.

No idea what lucrative real estate is like in Raleigh, but in Vancouver we have multi cajillionaires from Hong Kong making large investments.

Tanev:
-had a chuckle with Tanev's agent
-Hughes and others in the dressing room went to management and asked them to acquire Tanev
-Stars trying to re-sign him
-has a very soft spot for Vancouver
-when he was being traded, he really wanted to be traded to the Canucks
-could command 4y/5m
-willing to spend around what Chatfield got on a RD, which is 3m
-Senators are trying to acquire Brandon Tanev
-going to be really tough for the Canucks to get Tanev

Zadorov & Joshua:
-good news is that Joshua and Zadorov are willing to wait
-both players want to return
-hasn't been any talks with Zadorov for a long time; same as Joshua
-wouldn't be surprised if Red Wings make a pitch for Joshua

Canucks July 1st Plans:
-Canucks have plan Bs ready to go
-retaining size will be important
-expect them to target Brenden Dillon, Joel Edmundson, and Jordan Martinook

Mikheyev:
-were trying to move him at the trade deadline
-Canucks need to retain money or throw in a sweetener
-doesn't think the Canucks want to retain

Boeser:
-doesn't sound like they are committed or sold on Boeser

Guentzel:
-knows a lot of people are confident he'll end up in Vancouver
-was told to "park the brakes" on him
-Hurricanes still trying to re-sign him
-state tax in North Carolina is only 5% and cost of living is very low
-if Chatfield singed in Vancouver, is told it would have cost 3.5m
-has been told it's a good hockey fit for him in Vancouver

Misc:
-Mark Friedman is a really good teammate
-Chase Wouters signed a 2 year AHL deal because if he signed an ELC, his QO would be very low
-has been told that agents think 4-5 guys from Abbotsford can push for regular NHL jobs
-prospect pool is not known as a deep one around the NHL

No rumors on D&D today?

See above for Vector's recap. Largely quiet for now.

If the reporting is correct and Tanev wants anything close the to term and value he can get on the market, bringing him here will require the team to drop/change a lot of other plans. If he'll take less than 3M it should be an easy decision and a fairly easy process.
I’m guessing he comes in at $4m

As good as Guentzel is part of me would rather go for somebody like DeBrusk at roughly have the cost and use that extra cash to pick up another player.

Completely disagree. We need a top line talent to play with Pettersson. It's absolutely critical to unlocking Petey's full potential. Can't roll the dice hoping Debrusk has magical chemistry and doing a more 'rounded out' approach.

Quiet is how this management operates. We never hear rumours of something being done until it just randomly drops.

Boring rumors this week.

Seawateronice's rumor mill:
-Guentzel could be coming here. Dubas has recieved countless calls from JR and Allvin on Crosby, Malkin and Letang.
-JR and Allvin have shown strong interest in Zucker and Sprong
-Allvin may try and trade for Dumoulin
-Strong efforts are being made for a yellow and black rebrand. Allvin seems to think the blue/green scheme doesn't inspire confidence.

I fully expect that whatever we do next, no one will have a peep of it until the Canucks announce it themselves.

The pattern seems to be, something gets partially revealed very shortly (sometimes as long as an hour but that's the limit) before an official announcement or they just announce it themselves. Pearson and Lindholm trades were partially leaked a bit before hand but nearly everything else kind of just pops up on twitter.

July 1st is a different beast however.

Chemistry. Interesting to worry about.
What would make Guentzel have chemistry with Pettersson anymore than Debrusk? Or any player for that matter?

Although chemistry might not matter to Tocchet.

Players with great chemistry with EP? JTM and BB, that was pretty good.
How about a player with Petey that played with him and were 3rd in the league as a pairing?

So many forget so fast the positive stories, comments and actual numbers that Kuzmenko and Pettersson put up his first year here and how those would have been even better if Mikheyev hadn't been hurt.

Two other NHL duo's that put up better numbers, McD and Dras and McK with Rantanen.
Kuz and Petey put up 176 points between the two of them and scored 78 goals.
NOW there is the old refrain, "we must find a player for Petey" apparently at all costs now. This is where one player becomes more important than the overall team.

At least if Debrusk isn't/wasn't a fit he is still able to play Tocchet hockey and at a lot less cap hit.

But what if EP's knee owwie doesn't go away?

Seeing that Ottawa’s really trying the full court press to get Tanev, would you guys have interest in Brandon if we lost Joshua?

Agreed. In the 'Benning 2.0' thread a poster is using the rumour mill we heard throughout last year as some sort of indication on how Alvin and co. are thinking.

Jake Guentzel is elite. Yes, much better than Lindholm who wasn't a good fit with Pettersson.
Put two elite players together and they'll produce.
