Surprised Detroit had to give up a 2nd there. Seems like a player that would’ve had net positive value even if they wanted to unload him without salary coming back.

So the Red Wings turned around and used that 2nd to get the Sharks to take Jake Walman. However, I thought Jake Walman was one of their good defencemen? What the hell is this.

Walman has gotten pretty bad results when not playing with Seider, so assume the view around the league is he has been carried.

Problem is Red Wings they have other bat contracts like Chiarot and Holl. I figured they would want to move one of them first.

What baseball term will fit the Canuck's management .

"Swung on and BELTED"

or

"Swing and a miss, strike three"

Seider got his best results with Walman and got caved when playing with guys like Chiarot. As with Hughes/Hronek here, you better be careful messing around with your #1 dman’s environment.

Maybe they didn’t want to pay more than a second so got rid of the worst player they could with a second attached.

I believe he only wants to play in the States as well.

My understanding is that Marino wanted to stay in college (it’s f***ing Harvard) and close family friend and former youth coach Kevin Stevens (Pens scout) convinced Marino to turn pro.

His twin brother, who grew up with disabilities was also on that Harvard team. At the time, Marino also thought there were too many bodies on the depth chart for Edm.

I don’t think there’s any proof he won’t play in Canada.

I suspect Yzerman's capspace plans are less sexy than on the surface.

Raymond and Seider are RFAs. Much of their capspace will go to extensions for them and they are less vulnerable to offers sheets now.

I have their functional capspace at 14m with 16/23 roster. So, yeah they probably won't blow everything on one player.

There's connections between Yzerman/Detroit and some big fish in this UFA class, I'd be surprised if he doesn't land 1 of them at this point.

Stamkos (TB)
Marchessault (TB)
Roy (born in Detroit, michigan tech for 3 years)

Friedman has also brought up Detroit when discussing Guentzel before.

I mean, they could’ve waived Walman and he would’ve been claimed. Must be 1. Something imminent; 2. Off ice issues with Walman ?

2nd rounder to get rid of Walman. Mikyevev get ready to still speak canuckaneeze buddy. you ain't going nowhere

Sat basically telegraphed this probably directly from Canucks PR the other day. They think Mikheyev will bounce back and are happy to keep him. Makes me sick, as this boat anchor of a deal will probably prevent them from making meaningful changes elsewhere and could well cost them Zadorov.

Lol a decent Walman cost a 2nd to get rid of his 3mil AAV contract.

Ya Mikh will be a Canuck this year.

Looks like We arent front runners for Guentzel though so that should leave plenty of room to bring back Joshua and Zadorov if they want to sign a fair deal.

Keeping Mikheyev would be incredibly disappointing. I get they have had success with patience before (Boeser, Garland, and Myers) but the expectations from everyone were a lot lower.
