Benning had the most middle 6ers he could. Lol. I understand some fan favourites but it's business. You keep some you lose some, can't just keep paying more and more for the same. Now the Canucks are paying more for Joshua, O'Connor, Hoglander. I would keep Hoglander over Suter. A different coach Hoggy is probably much better in the future than Suter.

I wasn't pumped about the Joshua deal. Resembled Greenway that never lived up to the deal. Consistent but not consistent. It is the going rate though.

Garland and Soucy gets the Canucks the cap space to acquire Norris or Cozens and most assets to do so. If Boeser is traded. You need top 6 C and top 6 W for 11.75 plus a couple others. Never going to happen. Lekkerimaki only then needs to cover the normal 45-50 Garland scores and not the 60-70 that Boeser regularly scores. In this moment it makes sense. The roster now has far too many flaws.

I'd get rid of both Suter and Hoglander.

This Dylan Cozens obsession is just insanity, the guy probably should have negative value and yet we're clamoring to make a move for him.

His raw stats are concerning, aside from one season he's been a 40-50 point player (and is on pace to score just 43 points this season), metrics paint a picture of a player that isn't good defensively, is okay producing at 5-on-5 but nothing to inspire nearly the amount of optimism some on here have. He's played 337 games so I'm not exactly sure how much more upside there is here with him, he's getting paid nearly double what he should really be getting with crazy term.

Norris is to soft of a player and injury riddled..But friends with Hughes..Brady is the one that we could use..and is friends with Hughes...I'd move both Petty and Boeser for Brady and something..

Yeah. These guys comparing Kesler to Cozens is hilarious. Kesler came in as a defensive first, checking forward then evolved his scoring from there. Cozens .. is not that.

I think the obsession comes from being a unique asset. Being a big right-handed center, that can skate and has every tool in his tool box. Go look at a list of right handed centers in the NHL, he is top 16 in points and top 12 in even strength points. I have questions about his defence, and his hockey iq but I get why he is coveted around the NHL and on here.

Edit: I am just talking about him as a stand alone trade target, not in a package for Petey.

I'm not saying we should target him but the idea behind it would be targeting legit top-6 players who have diminished value for one reason or another, because we don't have enough assets to trade for good players at full value (not to mention the Hughes connection).

Finding surplus value in deals and hoping things work out is kind of what you need to do if the idea is to both stay young-ish and get better at the same time.

Suffice to say, not easy to pull off.

I'd say there is zero chance in hell the Kings trade Byfield for Boeser or Pettersson. However, I'd have said the same about them trading for PLD too. So... in Blake we trust?

Yeah, even though he's not a UFA, Soucy is a much better comparable to Lindgren as a guy who has fallen down the pecking order and has internal replacements and you can totally justify selling high at the deadline.

You need to watch more Sens games, Norris is far from soft. He'd be third in hits per game by forwards on the Canucks with 126 in 50 games this season, and he has 212 over 100 games the past two seasons.

Yeah like I said before I see no reason for LAK to trade someone like Byfield unless it is a supreme overpayment.
