they also have lots of 1st rounder prospects

Didn't we offer him 8 million X 5? but sad. I think Boeser is gone.

Not possible, I think, OEL being 4 years older and much more useless made it hard for us to trade him, thus we had to buy him out.
And now he has played fine with the Panthers & Leafs. We did not have to buy him out and he is laughing all the way to the bank, along with his Stanley Cup ring. Brilliant job management group....now we have a ghost of him on the roster for the next 2 years at 4 mill per year!

Ryan McLoed is an interesting name. Size, speed and age fits w the core.
I put him in all my Sabres proposals....months ago. Originally it was EP40 for McLeod + Byram + 1st (raw dog). Not sure Byram makes sense anymore though. I'd way rather have him than Cozens.

Id shut down Hughes for the year.
Shut down Petey for the year and keep him, just have to give him the time and confidence to get better unless he wants out.
Trade Boeser.
Trade Soucy.
Keep Forbort for another year if he wants to stay.
Run with Chytil, Suter, Raty, Blueger as Cs, gotta figure out what Ratys worth. Edit, and Suter
If we tank we tank, use the pick if its worth it or trade it at the draft

Take the assets from Boeser on another forward, hell bet on Norris with those assets and then see how the team does with Quinn and Petey shut down for however long it takes.

At some point, I really do have to stop hoping that water is going to run uphill and believe there's ever going to be a decent team in BC.

"if we didn't have bad luck, we'd have no luck at all" is how it goes.

We all knew that due to the situation management walk into, there was almost zero room for error. Almost everything had to hit in order for the team to crawl out of this hole and into something respectable. Pettersson after the ASG and Demko going down again last season cratered their run.

This year, almost nothing has gone right, and yeah, the whole team looks cooked. Boeser is actively playing to leave, Hughes is clearly injured, Demko is obviously never coming back, Miller quit like a the massive prick he must be, ripping the heart of team out with his departure.

Management were always playing behind the eightball, and they wagered it all last season and now there's too many glaring holes and not enough draft capital, youth and skill to build on. FEck . One freaking season and back into the sewer.

It's super exciting watching the Canucks turn a mansion into a paper clip.

I'm never going to give up on being a Canucks fan but real talk. After all we've been through with Benning I honestly feel this is the toughest it's ever been to stick with this team.

It's hard to watch really. After last season where we "gained respect on our name" it's all been thrown in the trash and we are back to rock bottom but without anything to look at in the future.

How can ownership look at this team and be content with the long term investment of this group?

It's mind boggling really but there is something rotten in this franchise that has been stinking since 2012.

They take us for granted. We all won't be here forever...

Kinda wild how quickly this TDL has come up. Some incredibly small signs of life from pete + some blind hope he may regain form at that 4 nations, and then an instant week of hell for this team once we returned. Now, it's probably going to be a chaotic next few days in vancouver.

The only players that would genuinely wow me if they were moved at this TDL are Lankinen, Hughes, Marcus Pettersson, D Elias Pettersson, DeBrusk, and Myers. And I'd take that list down to just Lankinen and the Petterssons if this is at the draft as things stand.

Genuinely no idea wtf is about to happen.

Have to trade Boeser, Suter, Soucy, and Blueger at the very minimum.

They are trying to get Cozens, we will see how that goes.

Debrusk - Pettersson - Lekkerimaki
Hoglander - Cozens - Martone
Joshua - Chytil - Garland
O’Connor - Raty - Sherwood

Hughes - Hronek
M-Pettersson - Willander
E-Pettersson - Myers

Demko
Lankinen

Yeah, I feel you. I was excited for some momentum after last year, and the first 10 games had some promise from a structural POV, but the players turned out to be way more interested in their personal problems (Petey and Miller) than the team this year. Why? I still have no bleeping clue.

It’s sapped my energy from writing full on post game reports to can’t be bothered to watch anymore. The Benning years completely stole my love of the game - last year did a great job of harvesting and growing what little I had left, but this year has done its best to stomp that out.

This is pretty much how I feel. I completely stopped watching hockey for years because of how bad the Benning era got. Not to mention, my second team being the Habs at the time. Ugh. Hard to justify throwing away three hours to watch a lifeless, boring team lose all the time.

Last season brought that love back, and yet here we are a year later and I'm already skipping out on games again.

I'm assuming you didn't stop playing, though, I hope?

Sports too beauitful to quite.

What would we give Buffalo for cozens?

Maybe they flip the 1st they get back for Boeser and Hoglander for him?

Or maybe BUF wants Boeser a la NYI getting Horvat and immediately re-signing him?
All we keep hearing is Buffalo doesn’t want picks/prospects. If for example we traded boeser to NJ for Mercer then perhaps Mercer and another piece (or two) could be of interest to Buffalo.

Would be very very surprised if Buffalo traded Cozens for a pending UFA. With Boeser my guess would be if the Canucks trade him he’ll pull a Rantanen and wait to sign (unless the deal is too good to pass).

I know people won’t like this but I keep wondering if Garland needs to be the player moved in a trade for a C.
