That’s true. Personally, I wouldn’t give up Podkolzin for that specific trade but rather in a larger trade with our more valuable pieces to acquire a top 4 defenseman.In a Minnesota trade scenario, it's worth noting that Podkolzin was a pick that Judd Brackett apparently pushed very hard for.
Also there are still a few other Brackett picks lingering in the system, although most (Aiden McDonough as an example) wouldn't carry much value.
In reality, trading with Minnesota would be to add depth, they don’t really have many valuable pieces and the ones that are valuable aren’t for sale or too expensive. The main idea is to trade Garland for a player with similar term and money but improves the makeup of this team/is a better fit.
