Sorry if already posted. I don’t think it’s news that the Canucks are interested, but I think Weekes bumping this is of note given the Beauvillier deal.

Essentially, Canucks have just under 2.5m in usable capspace when subtracting Soucy’s hit. Dhaliwal also mentioned Zadorov.

Maybe. He's kind of damaged goods with the gambling and the 41-game suspension. Perhaps Ottawa looking for a younger forward and a fresh start. Maybe something like Raty+ for Pinto?
I don't think he's damaged goods just cuz he got caught
Ottawa has no reason to trade Pinto this season even if they want a clean break. They also don’t have a GM.
God they are a mess

Still would require moving another body out as I don’t think it will fit with the current cap situation.

I would expect Bear incoming pretty soon.

If they really wanted to shoot for the moon, they could consider moving an increasingly valuable Myers (probably closer to the deadline) and bringing two more D in, likely with the 1st and some prospects.

Color me confused. Have 0 cap, trade someone with $4M cap hit, have $2.5M cap open?

Am I messed up cause Mikheyev was on LTIR before?

Canucks about 1.6m in cap space before the trade. Now they have 5.73m. However, if Soucy is due back they need to make sure they have 3.25m in space available to activate him. Mikheyev never went on LTIR. Poolman and Brisebois were the only LTIR players before Soucy.

The thing we should hope for is Boeser hitting 40+ goals. If he hits that then he should be able to fetch us a 2nd paring #3 guy.
Given his deployment, I agree, but we already have a hole in the top 6, that would leave 2. Unless you feel like Garland is capable of putting up more points in Boesers spot.

I think there's a very real chance this isn't sorted and he gets moved, especially if they think they have a legitimate chance in free agency at a Swedish winger.
That would be the play IMO

They need scoring do they not ?

I know Zadorov plays both sides but I don't know if the Canucks are that interested in another LHD, unless he'll come cheap, which he probably won't given he'd be coming from a divisional rival.

But of course the omnipresent lack of quality RHD's around the league remains.

Would probably have to wait a bit longer for Calgary to fall out of the wildcard race (if they even will) for Tanev to shake loose. I guess Bear is a good stopgap until they can pry a good D-man out of another team. Assuming the injury hasn't messed with his game, definitely an upgrade over Juulsen/McWard/Friedman and perhaps Myers.

i can't see calgary making a trade to strip their d down right now until they know if they have a dead cat bounce. i also have to think the canucks have a lot of options worked out for cheap cap cost deals they could not quite swing and are now reviewing them like a kid in the candy store with his allowance as suddenly feasible. they also presumably had potentiale deals for myers and garland that did not clear enough cap that they are revisiting.

anyway, i think they will sign bear and add a forward. i think they won't add a second dman unless they can move myers.
