Morgan Frost healthy scratched again in Philly, I think he's up to 10 scratches now.

A package of Frost and Walker is something I could get behind. Possibly Nick Seeler as well to fill in for Soucy on the Left side.

Depends if Philly is still looking for the rebuild.

It's wild. He's in the dog house and really shouldn't be in it - I've caught a few philly games in which he hasn't been scratched and they some defensive whiffs but nothing out of typical day-day mistakes. Easily one of their best forwards.

Would love to snag Frost for cheap

If the Canucks can get another center, the lineup shakes down really nicely.

Lotto Line
Kuzmenko-[new center]-Mikheyev
Joshua-Suter-Garland
Hoglander-Blueger-Lafferty

With PDG ready to step in the moment anyone starts slacking off.

You can also swap Hoglander with Mikheyev and have one sheltered minutes offensive line, and 3 lines you're comfortable matching up against anybody.

Guys I'd look at: Kent Johnson, Morgan Frost, Alex Wennberg, Dawson Mercer...there may be other names out there too...

I personally think we need a bit more grit up front if we want to make noise during the post season.

Hartman from the Wild is intriguing. Plays a tough border line dirty player. Has size and can move up and down the line up.

Wouldn’t cost as much as some of the bigger names.

A team with him and Miller would certainly be harder to manage from an opponent.

Hartman is also someone I’ve been eyeing myself. Him and Middleton could be interesting targets.

Middleton has reallly come around and has developed into a top 4 defenseman, similar career trajectory as Weegar, less offensive upside but nevertheless a really good defensive defenseman that can skate and and move the puck. 27 years old, fits with the age of this core.

I like Hartman, but he just signed an exte sion with the Wild, 4M cap hit is too big of an add for a team looking to shed salary.

I agree he is the "type" of player we should try and add.

You do wonder if they got Aman locked in because they are moving out another forward for a d-man and they know Aman will be up the rest of the year. Beau is the obvious name as Aman can fill his role pretty easily.
i hope it's not bad news about suter.

Middleton is a rock

Curious as to what number EP is going to get. And I wonder if he really cares about the money? I think he wants to win more than anything else, I have an insane hope that he signs for $11M x 8, knowing that he will have all the money he will ever need, and that the team seems to be trending in the right direction right now.

Would love to see him have a 5 pt night against the sharks.

My opinion - it's 95% about the money and always has been. But you can't go to the media and say that, so we get this "winning" angle. No surprise that nothing has changed even with the team winning through 20 games, penciled into the playoffs, and the team clearly in a better place than they've been in past years.

I also don't have a problem with that or anything he's said at all. He has a ton of leverage right now and it's seemingly only going to get better in the next 12 months.

You want to take Miller away from C while he’s shutting down top lines and scoring at a top 5 clip, and then trade for Kent Johnson to play with Kuzmenko on the softest line in the league?

Miller's numbers are a mirage, he's continually losing the territorial battle and is on a huge PDO bender. Tocchet himself knows this and has re-united the Lotto line periodically in high-leverage situations.

Johnson a snowflake but with the bottom 6 the way it is, they can afford to have a sheltered scoring line. And if Johnson breaks out offensively, that's something that can meaningfully elevate this team to contender status.

We've all heard the other rumours on the team "not being entirely sold on Pettersson", so it's pretty likely a gap in negotiated salary. It makes you wonder just how much money is on Pettersson's mind.

The season has gone relatively well to date, but always thought it would come down to post-season success, if they can have any, that would actually sway him in a positive direction on taking slightly less cash.

But agreed, Pettersson really has no reason to sign anything unless they blow the doors off, which probably means paying him near the top of the league. I doubt the team would have an issue going even $12M AAV, so it's not a terrible guess to assume it might be well north of there at the moment.

Miller is the best two-way C in the NHL this season and putting him on wing would instantly torpedo our season.

Looking at possession numbers for players playing the kind of minutes he is (and the linemates he’s playing them with) is a waste of time, and it’s everything wrong with ‘hockey analysis’ in 2023.

Kent Johnson is not an NHL C.

Will be watching Hertl closely tonite. Seems like the perfect winger/backup C for either top line here. Has a big contract, so might not be too pricey of a trade. Would need to have Hronek and EP both take more reasonable deals. See how much they actually value "winning/playing with Hughes"

Miller was also great at center last year after Horvat left. Not saying he can play center at a high-level for the next 8 years but there is absolutely no reason to move him from that position right now.

If anything the reason for EP/Miller to play together would be to take some responsibilities off EP who is clearly struggling at even-strength right now.. not to move Miller out of there.

Depends if Philly is still looking for the rebuild.
might as well toss travis in there too
