-thinks Lindholm had asked for 9m in his next contract
-convinced Hronek's contract will start with an 8
-doesn't think either GM was trying to win the deal
-big lynchpin to all this was Kuzmenko; Flames needed pieces here and now
-probably not likely Tanev will get traded to the Canucks
-after the Monahan was traded he got a call from one of the managers involved in the trade and was asked if he felt vindicated
-Jets were one of the teams in on Lindholm
-thinks they are one defenceman away
-doesn't think they need to spend that much; doesn't have a name off the top of his head
-mentions someone like Nick Seeler and Alexandre Carrier as potential targets
-thinks Zadorov will finish the season as a Canuck
-hasn't heard any rumblings that Zadorov doesn't fit in the locker room
-NHLPA pressure the NHL to agree to go to the Olympics; it's in the CBA
-Hiller will be the King's coach for the rest of the season
-Rob Blake under a lot of pressure

According to The Athletic, Calgary was excited to take on Kuzmenko since he fulfilled their objecting of adding an NHLer to the roster, think he can inject a lot of skill and be a gamebreaker for them. His value was low or neutral but Calgary doesn't view him as negative value.
I think that's a dumb objective, honestly, even if he fits it. Classic 'we won't rebuild even though we should' move that we started to experience in 2014. Good for us, though.

The community debated adding a player known for stirring chaos on the ice. Some favored the excitement of aggression, while others emphasized the need for skill and strategy. A pivotal decision loomed, defining the team’s future direction.

I'm all for some grit, but not Kuraly at 2.5M for another year and not Liam O'ECHL

They've been screwed pretty heavily by Treliving signing Huberdeau and Kadri to those massive retirement contracts. Plus they are currently trying to generate money to offset costs for the new rink. So I get the pull and at least Kuzmenko isn't going to screw their books up for very long if he continues to slide.

I'd be concerned that he'll be a little to Eager to mix it up at inopportune times.

That's a great comparable. Eager was one of the stupidest hockey players I've ever seen.

Cal Clutterbuck was certainly an interesting name - we haven't really had a lethal hitter to be aware of on the ice since Torres. But I don't know if Clutterbuck still does that a ton or if he's slowed down a lot.

The odds of them trading Cole is less than zero. Same with Myers, at this point.
I agree on Cole, I think Myers is unlikely.

If they decide to do anouther big trade you only have three salaries you can move Garland, Mik, and Myers. I don’t think Mikheyev is going anywhere or Garland. That leaves Myers.

But it would have to be for a clear upgrade to have it make sense.

Man I hate Clutterbuck. No thanks.

Todd McLellan apparently told Ben Eager to play the role of a pest in the 2011 WCF in a devious attempt to get under the skin of the Canucks ala the 2009-2010 Blackhawks.

End result? 5 powerplays. 2-0 series lead. Ben Eager scratched by Game 3.

Game 2 of that series was Eager at his finest (dumbest). Just moronic penalty after moronic penalty. Absolute meathead.

It’s Maroon all day for me. I am also open to signing Kessel for a min contract as well. I think depth will be important.

Based on nothing but a hunch, but I think Lindholm's number to stay in Vancouver will be lower then what it would have been to re-sign in Calgary.
I would be okay with $8 x 7 the same as Miller. Miller has better counting stats but Lindholm has better underlying stats.

Lindholm is going to get nowhere near his rumoured ask and has probably already cost himself 10+ million.

You wonder about the possibility of him accepting a 1-year deal to pad his stats.

The Canucks now have an even better chance of getting out of the first or second round, but they also have at least one player on defense who can lose a series on his own, with a special ability to chaos.

Not to be too redundant, but it's interesting as a fan to observe what management does with the roster and watch how well it plays out. So different than the dreadful "knowing" everything would go sideways.

If Petterson rises to the challenge, he'll be the difference he likely always wants to be, but it's definitely Hughes team and there's a really strong team vibe that gives everyone on the roster confidence. That's what 2011 had in spades.

The defense as is could walk through the playoffs, punishing teams in a variety of ways, but there's also a reason fans want an upgrade to the top 4.

Fascinating time to be a Canucks fan, and honestly didn't expect to really experience this again for years. I really hope Pettersson isn't too enamored with living in a bigger city, as it would be great to keep some of these key players for a few more years.

Why are people targeting Maroon and Greenway? Just because they are big? Maroon is old and slow as heck, and Greenway is expensive ($3m cap hit for this and next season).

If you just want big players, maybe Klim Kostin is a better target? Younger and faster than the 2 guys mentioned above, $2m this year and next, and I thought he was pretty good in the playoff last season.

I still don't see a big winger as a pressing need (another depth RSD and a 4C is higher on my priority), but if you must have a big winger, I think Kostin is a better target than the others mentioned in this thread.
