RIP Ryp.
Lindholm solidifies our top 6. Now it's time for Allvin's focus to turn to adding depth.
Currently, Karlsson is our 13th forward. I actually thought he looked fine in his limited showings, but not "next guy up" fine. And there's not a ton behind him in Abby that are ready to help out right now if needed.
Sounds like Podz' play makes him legitimate forward depth. Nearer the playoffs, he likely slots in before Karlsson in case of injury. But beyond that, who? Maybe Bains. Dries if healthy? Raty?
That's just too shallow. Need to add at least one forward. Even if it's just a waiver wire pick up that improves on Karlsson. But ideally a 4C that puts Aman in the pressbox when everyone is healthy.
I'm fine with Aman in the lineup. Good forechecker, good speed and length, utility as a PKer, utility at the dot. But 13th forwards usually see a significant number of games, so he needs to be capable of contributing. Having Aman in that role makes me much more comfortable.
Depth on the blueline also makes sense. We have 7 I'm comfortable with, amd Friedman is fine. But then who? Irwin and Cicek I guess?Johansen and McWard for righties? Wolanin maybe an option, but doesn't seem to be having a good season.
In a cap world, you can never address everything. We've got just under $1.9m to spend without removing any peices with a 22 man roster. Sure, a top 4 RHD would be great, but requires a bunch of moving pieces (assuming we aren't trading Cole, Zadorov, or Myers). Think it's more likely we add depth.
Adding a piece to push Aman to 13th forward is imo our top need now. Ideally a gritty, veteran 4C. Next would be a 5LD.
Have to think there's at least 1 more addition cooking up in that Swedish chef's kitchen.
