In all honesty I had no idea he was so anemic offensively. It’s kind of impressive. But when we played the Yotes last time I really liked his game.

I thought he was reckless, stupid, and was doing the kind of things that could tilt momentum away from the team in a series. The trick is to make guys go after you not chase after them and there were far too many times, and this is obvious in many other games, where he's the one doing the chasing.

I bitched about trading a heavy price for a rental when we shouldn't

But since we already did that then might as well go all the f***ing way in and not half ass it right
This is literally how people go bankrupt..

The credit line is maxed, f*** it lets
Juice the credit card, we are going to be paying for the rest of our lives anyhow.

I could see the Canucks flipping Mynio or Raty with a 2nd for Tanev. Dont see them offering much more than that.

Mynio and Raty seem like the two prospects most likely to be flipped at the deadline.
2025 2nd? or 2026 2nd. hopefully van finds their two depth dman pieces. cant hav enough D. could have new Dman in, juulssen/friedman/wolanin and the rest. good reinforcements if injuries hit any of the top 4 guys. 2011 had 11 guys.

According to the 'Hockey Writers' website, Tocchet is one of a number of players and ex-coaches who still stay in contact with Phil Kessel. And of course he has a Pittsburgh connection as well.

Apparently Kessel is still working out and hoping to sign with somebody. And Tocchet was quoted as saying that he's surprised that hasn't happened, given the fact that teams recently picked up Perry and Parise, who are actually older.

Could Kessel be a consideration for the Canucks after March 8th? He'd come cheap.

Buchnevich, Sunqvist, and Tanev costing what? That is 10 million coming in (approx) and what is going out? Mikeyev plus whom and what.

Would love to add Buch and Tanev and sure, another depth piece with some bite as well would be great. I just don't see how we can add that for what it would cost or for the cap? Is Cole leaving too, not that Cole going would get us there from a cap perspective either, I don't think?

There's nothing wrong with having a whiteboard. The problem is acting like your whiteboard is some kind of super duper secret weapon or like some kind of evidence that you really know your stuff better than anyone else.

"Look how many players he knows! AND he knows what team they play for!!!"

Frick, I just spent a few minutes trying to find that video of Benning and his wall of weird whiteboard. I can't find it! Wonder if they scrubbed it?

EDIT:

Found a picture with it.

God damn - those socks are the real problem here.

sure, it's a consideration, bring him in to skate with the team.....see if there's anything left in the tank.

Brayden Pachal on waivers. Is he any good? I know he was talked about here before as a potential cheap fill in.

Sammy Blais would be a good pickup. I liked him at the world championships last year. Has cup experience too

Would be a terrific add. Playoff player. Tough as nails, strong defensively, hits hard, skates hard, and can pop in the odd nice goal too. Don't think St. Louis will give him up though. They're heading to the dance too.

I've been kind of disappointed in how prospect development has gone this season in Abby. Things have turned out the opposite of what I expected, in fact, as I thought we'd see lots of promise and excitement on the farm, while the big club struggled to make the playoffs.

Other than Bains, what legitimate prospect in the AHL has surpassed expectations this season?

Bains has been great. Sasson has done really well. Podkolzin has righted himself and looks close to returning to the NHL. Johansson has improved through the season.

Raty and McWard have been ... OK. Same with Woo who started well and then had a poor two months after getting crosschecked in the face.

Hirose was a big disappointment before getting hurt.

I've mentioned Kovacevic before too. He's got decent results playing a 2nd pair role now. Signed for next season at a cheap hit is crucial.

Kovacevic is someone I want. Ticks a lot of boxes and there's no risk attached given his contract.

Kovacevic is going to cost a fortune. He's a solid #5D with size on the Hoglander contract for two more playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if the asking price is nearly as high as what we paid for Lindholm.

Reminds me of that Clune clown that Rypien beat the piss out of years ago.

The trade we made is good, kuz we needed another 200 foot second line player if we want to bring the cup (lind)holm. Now we have a few smaller holes to fill. Do we make a kessell run to add to our top 6? Do we mikhevey another trade to free up some cap space and bring in a better right handed defenseman? Or do we put a guy on LTIR and just wait and soucy what shakes loose at the trade deadline?

-Milstein has a very good player coming out of Russia this spring and the Canucks are one of the teams interested in that player

Surprised no-one else has commented on this.

I'm guessing it's referring to Sasha Chmelevski, an ex-SJ prospect/farmhand who has blown up this year in Russia who another report linked us to a few weeks back.

Russian name but is an American from California, represented the US at the WJC.

I’m surprised as well. It’s also funny that they ship out Kuzmenko only too look at the next Kuzmenko.

Kessel isn’t a top 6 player anymore. Would much rather target Vatrano or someone like him

Sharks still own his rights, and maybe I'm just not paying attention, but you have to wonder at least a bit as to why The Sharks of all teams are willing to give him permission to try to find a new home.

He's an American who has played all his development years in North America aside from the past 2 seasons in Russia. Not much of a comparison to Kuzmenko.

Also, the Sharks still own his rights so the Canucks would have to trade for them.

Oh man. Rypien beating the absolute wheels off of Rich Clune is one of my favourite memories of him.

That or breaking Cam Janssen’s nose the game after Janssen showboated stupidly after a long tilt with Tanner Glass.

I woud expect he doesn't want to play for their organization.

Imagine if Kessel is just like completely offended at not getting a deal, and just fully committed himself to proving everyone wrong. Just in the gym 24/7 and took a nutrition degree or whatever over the summer. Learned to fight. Comes back just angry.
