I would love to target Reinbacher ESPECIALLY since we are likely to be picking 689274th overall it seems, if Reinbacher is still there at 11th is he gonna be anywhere near NHL ready in the first year? Im not so sure

I would too but I’m guessing Reinbacher goes anywhere from 5-8. There just aren’t many high end guys to choose from so their will be a huge priority for certain teams.

Im guessing the Canucks slot in at 11 and then drop 2 spots. He will surely be gone by 13.

Unless they get some magic happening I would rather the Canucks move down 5-7 spots and add another pick…

Wonder what happens in Calgary.

Could be an interesting spot for Miller.

Backlund wants out and could be a decent stop gap at C for a year. Can flip on an expiring at TDL if needed.

I'd ask for their 2023 1st as well.

I like Ruzika and he has some size, but seemed to be on the outs in Calgary. Not sure if that's just Sutter or also his play (seems bit of both).

Careful what you wish for... Jim Rutherford traded a 1st for Ryan Reaves not that long ago.

The 1st for 2nd part of the trade shouldn’t bother anyone. 31st overall for 51st. Moved down 20 spots. The bad part of the trade was including Sundkvist.

At the very least should find out who’s in-charge of the Penguins and Flames in very short order. These decisions usually don’t last longer than a week after the season ends.

I get what they're trying to do.. but it's still kind of strange if they are actually trying to re-sign him as we've heard. If a non-playoff team liked him as a cheap, depth guy for next year maybe someone grabs him.

He will still need waivers to clear next year. Im pretty sure this is to help Abbotsford for what is hopefully a long playoff run

The x factor that Burroughs brings is grit and willingness to fight if necessary. Outside of Joshua there's not really anyone else. (Yeah Miller will but we'd probably prefer he didn't.)

Fighting is less and less of a thing but still have someone in the lining who will, is a deterrent.
did joshua fight this year? i might have missed it.

it would be different if they resigned him and then tried to send him down

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I meant that if another non-playoff team thought he could be a depth NHL defenseman next year for cheap, they could easily just grab him now.

It's probably doesn't matter.

I just mean if he was signed.. a team could say oh cool. Also could drive value down for other cheap players that team may have needing to re sign

Without him signed it would be adding another to do to the list.. probably making teams go .. meh.. nah

I honestly wonder if there's more to it and negotiations went downhill. Maybe the Canucks were trying to get him to sign that "two-way" deal a bunch of guys have signed recently and he said no. It just makes little sense to me to waive a guy who they have penciled into their roster next season just to help the AHL team, even if he has a high chance of clearing. People were talking about him playing with Hughes next year just a few weeks ago.

probably this means the sabres have a handshake deal but they want him to get games in? i think he can play in the ahl playoffs right?

Yeah, AHL deals can start now and play in the playoffs but anyone on an NHL deal for 22-23 had to be on the AHL roster at the deadline, so signings like Hirose and McWard are ineligible for the AHL this year.

Interesting.. cause whoever has him penciled into anything and being effective is just wrong in my opinion

He can fill in sure.. but his mobility is awful and decision making can be ok to stillman bad

That's weird considering all the amateur tryouts that are being signed with the farm teams while the NHL teams have them signed starting next year that I've seen

:edit.. should clarify.. i have seen a handful in the past bit reading the ahl forum

unless there was no nhl interest i don't see why else he'd be signing with the americans

Actually thinking about it.. rochester is close enough to where he already was.. not sure where he is from that he can keep playing this year and field offers in the off season

He gets 1 game if that with an nhl club now but couldnt play ahl playoffs.. or just keep playing and see what shakes later
