I'm still pissed at whomever it was that posted that Kelownafornia video a while back. Never able to get back not knowing it existed.

I think Myers asking for 4 million per year is just f***ing ridiculous.

What would Zad be looking for? 5X5?

It is ridiculous..who said he wants $4M a year..?

Myers at 4 heh? Ask yourself how many months of the 30 he just is about to conclude you would have wanted to pay him that. And he's 34 starting next year

Some team will absolutely give Myers $4M/yr.

Especially with the cap increasing.

The lack of RHD even remotely capable of playing Top 4 minutes is extremely limited in availability.

I just don’t see it happening in Van.

Is it ridiculous? It comes down to term doesn't it? If Myers is willing to sign a 1 year deal, are there many better options out there? Tanev might be prioritize chasing the Cup, but otherwise Tanev shouldn't sign 1x$5M. He shouldn't.

Myers just turned 34 and is having a good season. He and Cole are logging over 18 minutes a game for a top team and are first off the boards on the PK for a middle of the road PK. Cole has Stanley Cup winning experience and has been signing 1 year deals at $3M AAV (basically to the highest bidder) in a flat cap environment. Cole is superior defensively to Myers and a year older but Myers is a RHD, superior skater, and might chip in offensively. We signed Soucy last summer to a 3x$3.25M with full NTC first two years. Schenn got 3x$2.75M last season.

I would look to upgrade but there's a reason why management held onto Myers even when they were able to dump his contract for an asset. There aren't many affordable alternatives out there. If management can unearth a RHD talent and sign him to an affordable contract that would be great. But there's a difference between getting a guy who can play on your 3rd line on a good team and a 2nd pairing Dman on a good team. If we're looking at the UFA or trade market, I'm not sure there are that many attractive options out there.

It’s funny with the uncertainty around and his contract Hronek. Myers has quickly become the Canucks most important UFA and it not particularly close. The only other right shot dman under contract is Juulsen for next year and you can’t assume Tanev is going to sign.
could always re assemble a New defense unit again. cole/myers/hronek might get traded if asking price is too much.

hughes???
???/juuslson
???/??? 4 available spots. none of the guys in abbotsford are worth penciling in for

Cole and Myers are UFAs.

If there's a GM out there willing to give Erik Gudbranson 4x4M, then Myers will surely get that or more come July 1st.

There are always younger teams that are just looking for stable enough pros and have oodles of cap space in the short-term before they have to (hopefully) pay their young starts because they developed so well. Wouldn't be surprised to see ANA/CHI type teams come calling.

Re: Myers. Lets see if he can handle the stretch run and playoffs without being a liability before we offer him anything.

I've been a defender of sorts for him and give credit where credit is due with actual coaching and systems from competent people he's been puppy dog lapping up the knowledge and applying it as best as possible.

He's always had an great set of tools and still does move well so i'm not completely opposed to the idea of him staying but eventually every player succumbs to father time and i would caution at spending 4 million for a player who has a propensity for losing his mind/concentration when tired and tasked with too much. 35 going to next years post season when we would want him to perform at his best.

where does that GM work?

Myers has also had quite a good statistical season. He'll be one of the highest-scoring, right-side defenseman on the market I believe, averaging basically 19 mins per game. I doubt he'll get much term given his age, maybe 2 years, but I don't doubt he can get well over $4M AAV from some team.

No thanks on 4 million on Myers, guy already made his money when Benning was here.

How much does a guy need to rev his boat in Kelowna?
100mph open front deck boats with secret exhaust diverters do not come cheap.

All they do is rev.
what they will do is blow a bikini right off its owner if the air catches it right. i believe that is the chief motivator for owning one.

he'll get some interesting offers. he's got pretty low mileage on his body for such a physical player so he might get 3 or 4 years. depends on how strong the recency bias is.

Bottom feeder Columbus was willing to pay up for Gudbranson...There will be a number of teams willing to overpay for Myers..Most bottom feeders will have plenty of cap space, and available term to make it happen.

It all depends on if Myers wants to end his career on a good team (in his hometown) with a shot at the championship), or chase the $ ..He's already made over $64M in career earnings, so I'm picking the former.

Yeah, I guess I could see it ... 4 years seems a bit nuts to me, but could see some team with cap space giving him something like that. He's also got the veteran, good guy in the locker room reputation.

Pesce Roy DeMelo Tanev Haakanpaa Walker Dumba Carrier are all UFA options that have played 18 minutes plus this year

Adam Larsson is going into his last year in Seattle maybe you can do something there if he isn't re signing

Colton Parayko in STL. 4 yrs younger for 6.5 vs paying north of 4 million for Tyler Myers.

David Savard in MTL has been rumoured on the block

Point being is there are options. We dont have to kiss Myers ass or pay him market value because then we might as well go to market and find a better defenseman that isnt gonna be 35

I’m warming to trading Hronek and trying to get 2 defenders, some of them listed here, for the same cap hit. If you can get, for example, Tanev and Walker for around $9M combined AAV, that ain’t bad. Probably have to let Myers and Zadorov walk, but that solves the right side until Willander is ready and not overly worried about the left side bottom spot.
