One of my favorite comments I've ever seen in this site....when it hits you it'll hit you lol
Now you can see how everybody feels when they see one of your out of touch proposals.
These guys who came over from Pittsburg got to see a lot of players from the East and I’m sure due to divisions they were unable to pry them. Kravtsov is a former 9th overall pick and hasn’t been able to show what he has in the NHL yet, those guys are not a bad gamble.Targeting a guy like Kravtsov is a very Benning thing to do. This is not great news for the Canucks, honestly.
JT Miller to NYR
Schneider, Kravtsov, 1st round pick to VAN.
Everybody happy....
this is what id like to see, but I know NYR fans dont like it
what if we retained on JT? or added Motte? Or both?
(i think adding Motte would prob make for cap issues for NY tho)
I'd be happy with any of these scenarios
Rangers have no cap issues for this season. Don't need any retention.
What about next season, though? Thats where a lot Rangers fans are arguing, perhaps rightly, that they cant afford new players.
That's fine but retention on UFAs doesn't effect that
I must have misread the comment you were replying to. Motte is UFA, but Miller is signed through next season as well. Motte won't be of any worry for next year (being UFA and a bottom six player and all), but an unretained Miller I thought would be.
I actually thought Miller was UFA too. My bad.
I would still not be willing to give up Schneider. If you guys could get someone like him elsewhere that's fine, but he would be kept out of my final offer
If you mean K'Andre Miller, it's extremely unlikely that he'd be included. I'm not even talking about value here, just that a playoff team looking to tool up, isn't going to make "hockey trades". K'Andre Miller is a top4 defenseman, and the gap to the next LD below him on the depth is massive. Trading him would create a huge hole.No worries, that's why I was a little confused.
That's what I'm hearing from a lot of Rangers fans, so I've stopped pushing. All the reasons we want him are why the Rangers fans I've spoken to want to keep him, so I can't fault that.
According to a few of our beat writers LaFreniere and Kakko are off limits too, but I've warmed up to Othmann, Miller, and/or Lundqvisk as being part of a package. Not all are ideal pieces, like Schneider, but we have some players to move to make room for who ever we get anyway, going forward.

Hell no.Lockwood and Klimovich to NYR for Kravtsov?
Schneider not moving. we'll give you Lundkvist or Jones. maybe another pick to sweetenJT Miller to NYR

With Miller, the issue isn't really next season. If Miller comes in, Strome is leaving this summer (he probably is either way, unless he takes a TINY raise after outperforming his current contract). Miller's contract at full haul might fit under the cap next year (depends on what happens with Kakko and the rest of the roster). But there is no way to re-sign him after. Even if he takes the same contract he's on now. We free up only ~5 million in space that summer (mostly dead cap coming off and Reaves's contract), but have K'Andre Miller and Laf coming up for new contracts (and Chytil if he's still here).
Considering the acquisition cost, it just doesn't seem worth it for a Miller who is pretty much guaranteed to only be here for 16 months and who won't get the same opportunities here that he got with Vancouver (he'd be behind Zibanejad in the pecking order, and might not be on PP1). JT Miller, at his cost, needs to be a long-term piece, and I just don't see that working for the Rangers. I still suspect that the Rangers get name-dropped in all of this as a means of getting other teams to raise their offers, because there are so many other teams that would make better trade partners with Vancouver for him.
As for Kravtsov, I'd be interested in a pair of 2nds--ideally one this year and one next. Splits the difference between a 1st and a 2nd, and the extra picks give the Rangers some ammo to move up the draft for a guy they like.
Kravtzov, Jones, and a 2nd for Miller.
Would you accept that for Zibanejad?
