We don’t expect a RHD to be included in a deal… would it be nice, yes. We can also use the 1st round pick to cover that want, if need be. Would just be nice to have a prospect closer to making nhl is all.

It'a always going to be a late first. What team in the lottery is trading for Miller?

I know Van fans are hoping for a young RHD, but the reality is they have a lot of holes and need as much talent as possible in the system.

That is a pretty fair deal. 3 1rst round picks.

It isn't three first round picks.

It's a first, likely later, a prospect that is at an all time low as far as value goes, and I'm presuming Lundqvist (based on the previous few comments to whom you're quoting), who is a more established asset (good or bad) then his draft position. Kravtsov and Lundqvist also drafted in 2018, I might accept Othmann being rated as a first round equivalent on D+1, but we're what, D+3.5? The value of the prospect doesn't translate across to where they were drafted. If someone offered us a second for Demko or Hoglander, we'd not so politely tell them where to shove that draft pick. Conversely we have a number of first round picks playing on our roster that are worth...well a lot less than a first. Will Florida get a first for Juolevi? God no. Will Schenn or Pearson or any of the other previous first round picks garner one in a trade? Not based solely on their draft position. "Three first round picks" is absolutely disingenuous.

Your statement about Kravtsov= Seider was only like 2 months ago, after we already knew Seider was a stud and Kravtsov was cut. Don’t try and act like this was years ago.
People here on the boards know when there was last vigorous lobbying by bern. There were variations on this back then and most of them did not include Krav. And as the record shows, most of them were about moving Trouba to DET as well.

What was the excuse at the WJC?

What was the excuse in the AHL?

What's the current excuse in the KHL?

Why has some U-23 guy who was in the VHL last year and had 0 KHL points to start the season played himself into top-line minutes and production for his KHL team this year and Kravtsov has not?

Young NHL players virtually always start on lower lines and are expected to earn their icetime and play themselves up the lineup. He was not able to do that.
Krav is a 9OA w/very high pushing toward elite skill. He deserved a fair shot. Capitulate kindly to the rationale that you don't have Clydesdales run races. He will not be able to prove he is 1st line material unless he is playing with first liners. That logic is too obvious to refute.

Chytil Kravstov 1st for Mills
NO

If I was the Canucks, i'd be after Brett Berard over Kravtsov.

Maybe something like Zac Jones, Brett Berard and a 2nd for Miller?
Berard is a quiet hidden gem, but although we would have to trade Miller next season for cap purposes, the bold is an acceptable price for a 1 yr rental.

Yes, it would seem that way. But they are not, and moving valuable young assets for an ill advised attempt at a cup this season would be foolish. If JT had more term, I would feel different. But, this will be a rental; I doubt he will sign here.
Agree w/this. I think we are legit contenders this yr tho not better than handful of teams but what my critics refuse to admit is adding a Hertl or Miller is not a guarantee to buy a cup. Injuries, etc all factor as they do every year and having more chances by having a deeper team that competes more years IS the best way to win the most cups, not stupid win now overreaches that cannibalize young assets.

Kravtsov has done nothing to decrease his stock. His performance in the KHL since being drafted is right on par with every other highly touted teenager in similar situations.

The only reason this is even a question is because the kid chose to not take his medicine and spend some time in the A like a good boy. By all accounts, well most accounts because no topic can garner 100% agreement, he should have made the Rangers out of camp based on pure performance. He didn’t because:

1. He got injured.
2. He’s not the player type envisioned for the role he would have been in on day one.

The Rangers have absolutely no incentive to “sell low” on this kid. They need scoring RW help as bad as any team in the league and have the luxury of having a high end prospect waiting in the wings. There is zero reason for the two parties to not kiss and makeup, and if for some reason that’s not possible, the Rangers won’t be selling him for pennies on the dollar.
this ^ 111%

Maybe I was too harsh. I may have been too abrupt and no actually said what I meant to say.

I was aiming more towards NYR would utilise him in a 3rd line center role or 2nd line at RW. My mindset was more that NYR should not pay a hefty price of 3x 1st or equivalent too, just to have him play on the middle 6.

He's better than Strome but Gallant wouldnt move Strome away from Panarin due to their chemistry.

I think it would be hard to justify paying the ask if he is not going to be on the top line.
I fear you are right as to the underline, but math says ultimately Strome DOES have to go and breadman has gotta be a big boy about it and understand everyone, without exception, yields to the cap.

I like Kravtsov. Love to see him with a shot in Van!

Othmann would be a nice add too. I know most Nucks fans are hellbent on getting a D for Miller, but I think there’s a number of scenarios where NYR can present fair value in a Miller deal without a dman.

I'm bored so... he's 16th in the NHL in scoring since joining the Canucks.

Also I resent you saying that was a waste of time to look up ;)

But but but.. the reason why he is 16th in scoring since joining the Canucks is that he didn’t miss too many games. That should be held against him right?

According to some people here he’s a second liner/ fringe first liner.

I agree and not just with New York but any potential trading partner. If Miller is dealt, he won't be the only major trade so there will be other opportunities to land a young d-man. Just get the best value possible for every deal.

Nucks have Danila "the thrilla" Klimovich we don't need a Russian buddy for Podkolzin that's a similar player profile with the difference being one wants guaranteed top6 ice to come over and the other is willing to build from the ground up and is the last to leave the ice in the AHL at 18.

Othmann i would be interested in. That was a good pick Ranger fans

So a late first, a Russian almost bust who could very well run back to Moscow and a prospect who isn't bad, but doesn't have the skillset we lack and are looking for... for our PPG starplayer who plays multiple positions signed to a ridiculously low contract for another year

What do you think?
Ya but that's equivalent to 3 1st and around here it's where you were picked that counts. :sarcasm:

Nice work! So, Canucks have a top 20 scorer "potentially'' available at the TDL who has another year at a reasonable cap hit available.

For me its not the quantity of assets in return its the quality of the return that matters.
