EP for a bag of chips and a a handshake from the bruins.

After reading this thread that’s what I assume he is worth :naughty::sarcasm:

This would be a tangible argument if Vancouver was needing to “sell” Pettersson’s value or worth in a hypothetical trade scenario, but they really don’t need to. Every organization has seen and knows what he’s capable of and any acquiring team would be doing so under the assumption that he’ll regain his form for them.

Then don't say it?

Can Carolina really fit him in now? Necas has broken out as a top star, and they went long-term with Jarvis. They have lost a lot of cap flexibility since they apparently made a pitch for him.
Well..Any deal for EP will include Necas, Likely KK (for cap reasons) Morrow, 1st + anything else to get it done within some reason.

The team has over 22mil next year (not accounting for possible 4 mil jump)

I really dont get the hypo on Pettersson. He's a good player but he's not worth 11.6M per year for the next 8 years.

The value of the player is not just base on his skill but we need to take in consideration in contract. He got 2 season with more than 1PPG in the last 7 season.

I said it in another post but I don't have a problem with either individual statement, it's just weird to combine both of them.
Contrary to popular hfboards belief, the Canucks’ don’t want to trade Pettersson. Motivating him to become more consistent is clearly their #1 priority and this appears to me to be Allvin’s approach here. He’s not actively looking to move him.

What would Vancouver even be looking for in a Pettersson trade? I would think the Sharks would have interest if they can either get Pettersson cheap or move some cap back as part of it.

Vancouver would not be looking to move him cheap or take back cap unless it’s for contributing players.

We wouldn't move him for "cheap" or take back any ugly contracts. What's even the point of moving him if we did?

More than likely, a second line center and a consistent top four defensemen would be the goal if we're moving Pettersson.

I would literally add Lekkerimaki if this somehow is not enticing enough for Buffalo (for maybe an additional 2nd). Both teams need a serious shake up.

Buffalo make sense if Cozens is included, they also have to option to add either Power or Byram.

I would love him on the Habs, but this screams NYR, Buffalo or Detroit
Detroit doesn't have what it take to add Pettersson, Vancouver will need a top6 center back + a 2nd pairing defenceman.

Buffalo is more realistic.

They've obviously been listening to offers on Pettersson. Pettersson is a great player but he's too mentally weak and fragile to handle the pressure from a big Canadian market. And that cap hit is horrendous.

Disgustingly bad for Vancouver. The best player in the deal and a 1st?

Power has been outplayed by Byram and not sure he’s living up to expectations.

How about:

Cozens
Samuelsson
Clifton
1st
2nd

Petey
Hoglander
Deharnais

Cozens is 24, Power is 22... both locked in under contract.
I am absolutely willing to pay that price for roster players who can contribute now and well into the future.

Power literally has a babyface still, man. We're not moving our Gold Goose for Byram.

No interest in the pile of leftover parts for Cozens, but Pettersson for Power as a straight-up swap might be interesting. Risky, but interesting.

Cheap is always in the eye of the beholder. I don't see any way for the Canucks to get a quality-only deal for a player with that sort of contract.

The point would be to get out of a long term 11.6 mil contract of someone you don't trust to be worth that kind of cap hit. Even that asking price would is highly unlikely to materialize. Who has that available and wants Pettersson?
