You still don't say that lol.

You either want to keep him so you don't piss him off, or you want to trade him, so you don't devalue him. I'm fine with, "We think he can play better." It's the combo of, "We think he can play better and a trade is possible" that's mind-numbingly stupid.
i dont think that devalues him. his gm is trying to hold him accountable. it's in the players hands now.

Why? Many GMs before Allvin have said that nothing is out of the realm of possibility. This isn’t something new that we haven’t seen before.
Coyly hinting that their GM (or hockey ops president or whatever) isnt afraid to make big trades, then openly criticizing your most important franchise center. I really dont recall other teams doing this.

If you're hypothetically willing to or trying to trade him, publicly saying he's not playing like an elite 1C looks bad when you try to tell other teams "You're paying for an elite 1C".

It's hard to tell if this is a message sending to Petterson/the league that he might be available, or he's not really available, but if a team were to go bananas and offer something you couldn't say no to available.

Right now I'd say the Nucks are dealing an 80 point centre, however he's on track again for his 4th season of high 60s for points.

If he's tracking that way next year, then teams will likely view him as a below 80 point centee and at that contract I can't imagine the Nucks would get much back.

So, in short this offseason is likely where they need to decide if he's apart of the future, or traded for a piece/pieces that hopefully will be apart of the future.

he's not prospect. gm's and pro scouts know what he is at this point.

ep needs to step up. the canucks are missing several key pieces and their playoffs are on the line. so far ep hasn't delived.

I don’t understand this logic. No horse in the race but you have to go back to 21-22, the season he was 22/23 years old for the last time he scored in the 60s, with 68. He’s currently on pace for 68 but we’re not even at the half way mark and his last two years were 102 and 89 points. 191 points in 162 games. Add the “bad” first half this year and it’s still 219 points in his last 194 games so I have a hard time believing teams will view a guy who just turned 26 and hasn’t had less than 89 points in a season since he was 23 as a 60s point player based on one season. I actually think Pettersson is an 85+ point center the second he is moved most likely. He could still even reach that this season. 28 in his last 34. He would need 57 in his next 48. That’s within his pace the last two years. Probably more likely he finishes this year with something like 72 points but I find it funny how quickly he’s being written off by some.

Early season trade for Zadorov, the trade for Lindholm and the trade for a hurt Hronek. That’s how Rutherford/Allvin have always worked.

Don Sweeney in November openly said that if the players don’t improve there will be changes.

That’s a pretty crazy one. Why did he re sign there long term Makes no sense. Now he can get traded anywhere.
He could be moved to Columbus.

He needs to fire his agent.

Wildly inconsistent player who goes as his confidence, but that's very volatile. He needs to go to some place where hockey is a big deal in May, but not January.

This current regime has been outspoken before. Remember Rutherford speaking candidly about the team back when he basically threw bordereau under the bus?

I think if EP is really available, Carolina is calling again. They have a good amount of $$$ coming off the books next year. Necas will be part of the deal no doubt. KK, or Drury, Morrow and a 1st or prospect. Maybe only the Wild is one of the contending teams with more cap space going into next season? I may need to check that again. Canes need a top 2 center. Aho and EP would be interchangeable. Then you have Staal and whoever remains for the 4C. Solid centers top to bottom.

Pettersson played just 13 playoff games in the last 4 seasons, and he looked terrible in those games.
Almost seems like being injured can effect a players production.

They were fairly deep into a potential deal last season, would make sense for Carolina to try again.

The trade that was leaked and rejected by Vancouver was Pettersson for Necas, Pesce and a draft pick.

Yeah, I had to re-read the op, as anything is possible doesn't say much, good or bad.
People will always try to make something out of nothing and think that there is some hidden cryptic meaning.

The team went from winning the pacific to barely clinging onto a wildcard spot. Of course the GM is going to start ruffling feathers.

I would be far more concerned if Allvin gave some “the answers is in the room” type bullshit answer.

Usually, sequels suck but every now and then you get a Godfather II, Dawn of the Dead, etc
Mighty Ducks 2

British Columbia was formed by geological forces that took eons. Apparently so too will the Canucks roster moves.
Hard to make a trade when most of your roster has spent time injured

Demko, Hughes, Hronek, Miller, Pettersson, Joshua. Most of Vancouvers top players have played very few games together. Maybe we see something in 2025

Pettersson needs a change of scenery.

He’s significantly more likely to return to form on a new team than he is if he stayed in Vancouver.

So the trade will “look bad” for the Canucks like the Eichel trade “looks bad” for the Sabres.

But Eichel wouldn’t be doing what he’s doing with Vegas if he was still on the Sabres.

I do expect that the return for Pettersson will value him as a top 10 center even though he hasn’t played like one this year. Plenty of teams willing to take a chance on a guy who’s locked up long term and just needs a fresh start.

I'd live in Flint Michigan or hell, Winnipeg for 11M for 8 years. I'd sign any paper you asked for that matter.
