I don’t know about that. If Andersen comes back healthy and plays as he did last year then we have a vezina caliber goalie. I enjoy Koochie but he isn’t at that level. Of course, health is a big question mark with Freddie but, assuming he’s healthy, he should clearly be the best guy.

Tonight was certainly a throwback to the Fisherman era on and off the ice. Only difference was a full house in a new arena and not 6k in a dilapidated arena.

Call me a jaded Leafs fan, but the last time Freddy won more than 3 games in the playoffs was like 8 years ago, and he's been on good teams in that time.

Bro, they've got Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov, they're practically a lock to get to game 7 in the first round before losing again! So they're totally in line about lecturing goalies to us.

not to dispute what your saying, but since the 04-05 lockout, Leafs haven’t won more than 3 games in the playoffs. Some of it can be due to the goalie, but much of it is due to the skaters because it’s been multiple goalies.
That said, I think the leafs look really good right now and if their goalies stay healthy, they are a contender.

Agree, but Freddie has been part of the problem, not the solution for us. Not saying he isn't capable anymore, but it doesn't look good based on his recent track record.
In his final 3 playoff series with Leafs, in the final 2 games of each series (so 6 games total), Leafs had a total of 23 GA.
Also, in 3 of the last 4 seasons, Freddie has had a negative goals save above expected.
If I were RBA, I'd roll with Kooch, but also have Freddie there in case the kid slips up.

We get it, Leaf’s fans are anti Anderson.
The vet deserves the first shot. If he blows it whoever wins the games plays. Koochie plays behind good D same as the others. Our team makes goalies look pretty good. I would not presume Koochies time is now.
I absolute blame the Leafs for their own past playoff issues.

He wasn’t in a playoffs 10 years ago when with Anaheim. He did give up 6 in 2018. He gave up 3 in 2019 and had a .900 sv %. He had a .925% the game before in game 6, giving up 3 while being shelled.
Andersen had bad games in the playoffs but there are other games where Andersen played great. Andersen still lost those games cuz Boston, Washington, and Columbus just railroaded the Toronto skaters all game.
The ball is in Kochetkov's court, so to speak. If he continues to produce, they won't be able to stop playing him, even if they want to. Waiver eligibility being a caveat, but the team just went through this same scenario 2 years ago with Nedeljkovic.
