Was Chytil benched/relegated the the 4th line in the 3rd? I didn't see much of him until the ENG, and saw Goodrow out with Vesey and Laf for a few shifts.
Yes, he was benched for a while because he was on for some goals against and deflected a puck past Shesty. He didn't have a particularly good game.

Gotcha. Just watching postgame now and GG confirmed it.

I didn't think Chytil was any better or worse than most of our forwards through half the game. The "own goal" was more of a fluke play than anything in my eyes. Surprised that he was benched, but all's well that ends well, I guess.

I started watching the game in the 3rd, you're welcome.

Btw - Did we look as good in the first two periods? We skated hard, everyone looked like they were having fun!

Is it only me or does a lot of Panarin goals just look bad/weird? Placement wise that is.
The second, yes.

The first period was oddly awful.

We beat an exceptional hockey team …

Brent Burns is the guy we needed after coming up short v TB.

A game changing player to take heat off Fox …

Our GM has to start thinking BIG .

Our hitting changed that game tonite .
Brent Burns is costing Carolina with his defensive zone f***ups almost every period. Go over on the Canes board, they hate him and he's not getting any younger.

I love it. Seeing guys celebrate empty netters like a game winner super post the goalie annoys me. Either casual smile and pat your buddies for half a second and then back to the bench, or take the Chytil ‘I’ll take it…I guess’ method
He would have gone OT Bedard if he wasn't poopy pants about getting sat in the 3rd.

There was a stretch in that 3rd period where Gallant went with only two lines. Zibad's line and the line you mentioned, Goodrow, Vesey, Laff. That surprised me as well. Chytil wasn't the only one sitting, Panarin and Trocheck also took a breather. For a few shifts, he went back and forth with those two lines once we tied it up early in the 3rd. Haven't seen that before. Shorten your bench to two lines?

If you watch the full game replay, check it out. It's right after we tied it up or after we get the lead, I forget which. I'm guessing Gallant didn't want them to answer right back for the 3rd time in the game.

Blais has his hitting back. He breaks the laws of physics with them. He skates parallel to a guy and while he’s off balance and on one skate leans into guys with a little shoulder shrug and then you hear a giant boom as the guy somehow ends up slammed into the boards and on their ass.

From the opposition:

“Pesce had that little Vesey shit lined up to knock him into orbit with an open ice hit and pulled off at the last second.”

This, apparently was a Big Moment tonite, but I missed its significance. Shame on me.

Seriously tho - Altho I am a big fan of Mr Jimmy, his line stunketh on ice tonite. GG needs to tweak the blender a bit more to find a better balance among the bottom 6.

Yeah, it's a penalty. You can't play with a broken stick, and he did. He made like two plays on the puck. I don't think he knew, and I probably wouldn't have called it, but it IS a penalty. There's nothing in the rulebook about intent, knowing the stick is broken, etc.
Someone can correct me, but I don't think it has anything to do with playing the puck. If your stick breaks and you skate around holding it, it's a penalty.

When Kakko puts it all together he’s going to be a problem in this league. I’d like him to shoot just a little more, but he’s the playmaker for that first line.

Kravstov is where Kakko was earlier in the season. He’s so close to breaking out. Once he buries his chances he’s going to take off.

That third line needs a legit Right Winger. They’re a bit lost without Kakko.

37 year old Brent Burns who has this season and two more at $8M per?

Head scratcher.
Yes.

Him and McDavid.

Hedman too. Need good D in the playoffs.

Let’s not forget a great backup goalie. I think we should target that Hellebuyck kid from the Jets. He was born in Michigan which is literally, right next to NYC so he’s definitely a Rangers fan to boot.

Weren't you just on another teams board talking about how bad we are and we aren't a playoff team?
I don't think so?

I went and double checked to see if he even posted anywhere else recently and are you talking about his post on the Vancouver board last postseason that was sarcastically poking at a known Vancouver shit stirrer poster

Well that should put an end to the "backup goalie shutout" meme for a little while. Bad night for the kid as he obviously has talent. The refs were bad, like usual. I'm so used to it by now, at least it favored us this time.

Horrible first where I said they're gonna have to figure out how to move the puck up the ice and to their credit they did exactly that. They were the better team the last 2 periods, especially the 3rd.

I'd like to see a small tinker with the 3rd and 4th line moving Goodrow up with Chytil and Laf. Vesey isn't cutting it with them. And for the love of anything religious please shoot Sammy Blais back to Quebec.

Great win and can build off a big win like this. LFG
