What a weird game. I thought both teams played well. Tons of weird bounces, poor officiating yet again. It's becoming epidemic re: reffing. And I'm saying that knowing full well Rangers got the better end of it. I really hated that broken stick call. Kinda took the wind out of the sails of the ending of a very fun game.

The great thing about tonight? A lot of strong contributions from lots of players. Hard to pick the 3 stars.

Zibby, Kakko, Tro, Kravy, Bread, Laffy, Goody, Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Trouba and even Shesty with a timely save.

The big thing is, we beat one of the best teams in the league because we out-simplified them in the 2nd and 3rd. Most of our goals came from just throwing the puck towards the net. That's the kind of win a young team can build on.

Pretty simple, you can't play with a broken stick. We're just conditioned to NHL refs using their own rulebook.
Yeah, it's a penalty. You can't play with a broken stick, and he did. He made like two plays on the puck. I don't think he knew, and I probably wouldn't have called it, but it IS a penalty. There's nothing in the rulebook about intent, knowing the stick is broken, etc.

Stealth Edit: Might be wrong on this!

Sometimes I swear to God you guys are watching a different game then I am. KAD was possibly our worst player the first 2 periods, costing us a goal pretty much on his own and some additional sloppy play. So what if he made one great play. Lindgren was our best Dman followed by Fox and they were night and day beter than KAD . AND I love KAD's game but tonight overall he wasn't a star. Lindgren was.

We beat an exceptional hockey team …

Brent Burns is the guy we needed after coming up short v TB.

A game changing player to take heat off Fox …

Our GM has to start thinking BIG .

Our hitting changed that game tonite .

I didn’t see it but it sounds like the guy had plenty of time to drop the stick. Maybe next time he’ll give it a proper test whack.

Man, that rookie ref was brutal.

Awesome 3rd period, I felt like we were the better team the second and the 3rd and the 1st was almost even although Carolina had a ton of zone time.

We decidedly outshot them and didn't need Igor to be anything more than okay. And Carolina has been tearing through teams, I believe on top of their 11 game win streak that we just snapped that they also had gotten points in 17 straight games. Very satisfying win.

Kakko really looks like he's blossoming. He's a difference maker out there almost every shift. I hope that line is written in stone in Gallant's notebook. It's actually pretty unfair to Kakko at this point that people are lumping him in with Lafreniere (who is struggling but even that is overblown IMO) because the on ice product between the two couldn't be further apart.

Win of the year

That was fun

Agreed. That felt special

This team legit thru away 5 games they had 2 goal leads in November those should have been wins. We know they should have been wins. They know it. And then mailed in a couple against Ottawa and Chicago as a result. But this team is too good to not be a top team in this division. I gotta think we’re at the half way point here they’ve beaten some really good teams. The devils are giving home ice back up for grabs so a win Thursday then facing New Jersey off 3 in 4 nights. We’ll have the advantage

Look, when Ben Harpur put that huge hit on was it Jesper Fast (silent J on the Jesper vs. a hard J for Jesper Bratt), I knew we were going to win this game. That hit got the Trouba Train rolling, as Captain Mumbles laid two big hits to follow, one on Sketchnikov.

So, thank you Ben Harpur, for all that you do.
