The NHL is a jumbled mess where any team can beat any other team at any time and nothing means anything, but it’s fun when it goes our way.
The scoreboard shows how many times the puck went into the net and did you see how the puck went in the net tonight. It's why you need to be ESPECIALLY level headed to be a good fan.

I just keep on shaking my head watching this team this season.

Coming into the season, I had high expectations. I knew there would be highs and lows, every season has those, but I wasn't expecting the lows to be so low (the Edmonton loss at the garden, pretty closely followed up by the loss to Ottawa and then the Chicago debacle). What concerned me about that stretch was that the team seemed to have lost it's fight and compete level in those games, which was something we really didn;t see in the previous season.

This game felt like last season for me with the way they fought back and played hard on their home ice. Igor making the huge saves when they needed them most, the crowd with the Igor chant, Troubs with the physical play. It was great to see.

I started watching the game in the 3rd, you're welcome.

Btw - Did we look as good in the first two periods? We skated hard, everyone looked like they were having fun!

Is it only me or does a lot of Panarin goals just look bad/weird? Placement wise that is.

KAM reminds me of Marek Malik. That motherf***er could play a game like he was Stevie f***ing Wonder on skates, f*** shit up six ways from Sunday, and end the night a plus f***ing 2.

I hate this kid. He fails every eye test I have, but comes out smelling like a rose. I guess I suck at watching hockey, because to me, KAM is a bad hockey player who got first star of the game. I can't figure this shit out.

Look, when Ben Harpur put that huge hit on was it Jesper Fast (silent J on the Jesper vs. a hard J for Jesper Bratt), I knew we were going to win this game. That hit got the Trouba Train rolling, as Captain Mumbles laid two big hits to follow, one on Sketchnikov.

So, thank you Ben Harpur, for all that you do.
Basically. The most important thing is he is enabling Schneider to go on offense. Provides some physicality and quietly snuffs out plays along the boards.

The biggest indictment to the career of Libor Hajek is after floundering with the team trying to force him into the lineup and being given every last opportunity has not only lost his spot, but he's been handily outplayed by Ben Hapur of all people. The fact that Harpur has not only taken his spot but actually been a pretty decent upgrade over him should really be the death of Hajek's career, at least in New York. All respect to Harpur but he's a guy who should at BEST be 7th on your depth chart, more realistically 8th or 9th.

You are way off about KAM. He had some good and some bad tonight. He has some elite skills and skating ability but does still need to be more polished on the defensive side which he is still learning. He's going to be a monster when he becomes more consistent.

Was Chytil benched/relegated the the 4th line in the 3rd? I didn't see much of him until the ENG, and saw Goodrow out with Vesey and Laf for a few shifts.

I can't agree with this. You're downplaying our effort. It's not like the Canes handed us this victory. Twice the Canes answered back after we tied it up. Canes haven't lost a game all year with a lead going into the 3rd. We won a hard-fought battle against a good team who battles hard.

This wasn't luck of the draw, or a roll of the dice. This was two top teams, giving it their all, making this victory a well deserved triumph.

22 Years old and does things on the ice no other player on this team can because of his size and skating. Dmen don't develop quickly not to mention he hasn't been playing defense his entire life. Also he is playing with Trouba who has been far from perfect.
It's a joy watching a dman (or any player) on this team that can actually take the puck end to end and try to threaten at the other end of the ice late in a game when it's tied.

Amen to this.

Defense is a thankless job on this team, especially with how our forwards backcheck and try to clear the zone right to opposing players at the blue line. :)

Pretty sure I heard mock cheers tonight when we cleared the zone after KAM's go ahead.

credit where it's due

Trouba made a heck of a hit on Svech. He looked like he was in playoff form in this game.

Kratvsov made a number of smart offensive plays which led to scoring chances.

Miller played a great game overall but had one of his trademark moments where he has the puck in his own zone and then decides to just barrel his way in a coast-to-coast fashion and attacks the net. We've seen him do this before. He has the ability to skate circles around the opposing team when he commits to this.

Kakko had a number of excellent puck carrying moments. Most notable in the first period where he deked a guy and then carried the puck around the Cane's zone and also where he carried the puck from behind the Cane's net and served it to Zib at the point. Some of the best puck carrying I've seen all season long and I don't necessarily mean just from him, I mean league wide.
Weren't you just on another teams board talking about how bad we are and we aren't a playoff team?
