I wouldn't be surprised if they target Boisvert. Hughes loves his NCAA guys. And being a Quebecer is a nice bonus. He also checks a lot of boxes in term of needs. A forward with size, character and offensive abilities. What's to hate?

I don't think Boisvert will be available at #26.
Exactly. And a center on top of that. Good pick in case Dach keeps getting injured.

The habs met Eiserman a few times, which was odd because it wouldn't make sense to pick him at 5 and he wouldn't be there at 26.

So my guess is the habs are expecting Eiserman to fall, and will try to get him. They might need to trade up again to do so.

I don't think Boisvert will be there at 21 either.

Seems like a player who teams reach for in the teens. Maybe Chicago who moved up earlier.

It's a 2nd round pick to move up 5 spots in the 1st round.

I'll do that everyday and twice on Sunday

Just obviously would be nice to have got 15 or 17 or wtv

But our guys are DOING stuff, that's the most important
Getting up to 15 or 17 for sure. I have to question if the difference in hit rate from 26 to 21 is worth 57th? We drafted Lane Hutson late 2nd. There is still some value there.

I'm not totally opposed to it, assuming that they have their eyes on someone, or potential trade.

The value is good, this pick represents more than just 5 spots it represents access to players who are in a whole other tier.
Looking at potential players available at that spot, I simply do not see that tier separation you're speaking off.

It's also a situation of a > b >> c but (1 - a) > (1 - b) * (1 - c), when it comes to the probability of drafting a quality player

They’ve identified a player they love that might not be there between 22-26, clearly.

It’ll be interesting to see if they try to move up again if another team trades for a pick ahead of them.
Boisvert
Luchanko
Beaudoin
Hage

All possibilities, I think they don't make this deal for a Basha or Surin that would have had high odds of being available at 26

If they want an RD maybe Badinka?

Or

They move up again, we've got tons of picks, tons of depth on LD, something's gotta give

It smells more like the trade for Dach. Chicago wanted the #13 th pick. And Habs acquired that pick from NYI to please Chicago.
