I have very little regard for the statements. They are vague for the most part, and very unconvincing. I think you are correct that the woman had a horrible experience. Where I am unwilling to go is making judgements based on very limited information.
It's interesting that you are willing to question her character, but you are steadfast that we shouldn't make judgements on the accused. Feels a bit less like "wait and see" and a bit more like "I believe she's lying until a criminal court presses charges" to me.

So, I'm going to just look at this from a parental and societal lens. First, I'm going to exempt the young lady here. Having been in a profession that involves being around kids (and these are still kids) without exception, a young lady of that age has not the maturity to make an informed decision to willingly, happily allow herself to passed around to be used as a receptacle. So no one should ever put her in that position. It's disrespectful to say the least and more often than not, criminal.

To the young men involved....Well as a parent I'd be mortified as to how they treated that young lady. This is not normal behaviour. Having heard stories about "trains" more than I'd care to, it should become part of the discussion early on in a player's journey. A session with the players and their parents discussing the "social" aspects of having special status in a community and the responsibilities that come with that would do wonders.

I'm also noticing now that teams during draft interviews are trying to ascertain whether a player has more between the ears than just hockey. A shift in the culture would benefit everyone.

Jesus, why would you want your friends to join you sharing a woman so badly? Boggles the mind.
So much this ^.

I can totally understand the nuances of a situation where a young man and woman meet in a bar after multiple drinks, go to a hotel room and do their thing, with differing feelings afterwards.

What I don't get is the player who takes the woman to his room, gets his rocks off, then invites at least 7 (sounds like more came, but some begged off, probably out of disgust) of his buddies to the hotel room so that they use her like a piece of trash. Legality aside, those young men have shown a side of themselves that is pretty appalling. The fact that they have had others to cover their actions up at the cost of millions of public, or semi- public dollars , adds insult to injury.

So I guess this tactic was experienced by another woman at the bar.

I don't get it. Whats with these guys and wanting to share girls. Like I'm sure its not hard for any of them to pull.

This part is not true. Hockey Canada did that on their own.

It's hard to imagine Hockey Canada getting their federal funding - or sponsorship money - back anytime soon. After what happened with the alleged incident in London, I'm betting there will be a ton of pressure on those on that year's team to release statements. ~20 years later it's hard to imagine any criminal investigation going anywhere, but those connected with the team won't be able to wait it out in silence, either. I don't like going player-by-player parsing statements, I don't really find that helpful either here or in London, but I'm betting that'll be the expectation.

An alleged sexual assault from 2003 World Junior team

I said it at the time when the Beach story came out -- that was just the beginning of what was going to come out and stories upon stories like these will surface.

That's just how the culture of hockey and the majority within it is. Most hockey players are cocky, macho jocks/jerks.

And yes, I know that applies to other sports and walks of life. As well as painting a broad brush. But we're talking hockey, hence the narrowed focus, and that's just how it is and I just can't buy any rebuttals suggesting otherwise.

I mean, imagine being a teenager and knowing there won't be actual consequences for your acts.

It is. MAF is the only currently active NHLer from that roster as far as I am aware.

I mean, those guys are pretty old by now.

People talk about presumption of innocence and then try to use that to claim the police "cleared" everyone and "determined" there was consent. Blatant lie.

I don't see a problem - here is the link to the pics. It's not legal evidence or anything like that. None of these people are guilty of anything for being in these pics, they are just celebrating in a bar. I have similar pictures partying in Ottawa with a few players but I didn't post them publically because I may or may not have been legally allowed in a bar at that point....

From the reddit thread:
The players I recognize are: Drake Batherson, Jake Bean, Brett Howden, Maxime Comtois, Jonah Gadjovich, Dante Fabbro, Dillon Dubé, Michael McLeod, and Colton Point
How does that overlap with the list of players that gave evasive or non-firm answers (i.e., "i didn't do anything wrong" as opposed to "I wasn't there" type of stuff?)

I won't go name by name, but most of those players either haven't given a statement, or have given softer statements.
