So they “allegedly”, asked her , after a shower, to record a video saying it was consensual and that she was not drunk….

That’s going to be interesting, don’t know many people that make such a request after a sexual act

It's hard to imagine the HC officials - who would have gone into that Committee completely lawyered up - would be so stupid to perjure themselves. And if they DID know the identities of the players, they did just that. They didn't leave any room for ambiguity. Might be lawyers having a pissing match with each other in the media, but Renney et al are going to have to explain themselves.

So, are the players in question (or their lawyers), going to pretend that 8 guys on one woman, and a drunken woman at that, is what passes for "consensual sex"?

Those assholes need to be outed before they do it again.... come to think of it, they probably have. I mean, why not?

What passes for consensual sex has nothing to do with the sex act itself, and everything to do with consent of those sex acts before and during those acts. Again we all need to stop making assumptions and pretending we know what occurred.

Are we allowed to speculate names? Judging by this off-season we have atleast 1 really suspect player... and then I have 1 more judging by his play and other dots...

Hate to be the one to break it to you, bud, but gang bangs happen.

I'm not sure that's what happened here, but it is at least a possibility. The truth, whatever it may be, must come out.

You don’t carry around a briefcase with legal sexual consent forms when you go out just in case?

A few or several guys w one woman does happen lol. Or any combination, but even that some people are into. Obviously not the most common way to do it but yea

I dunno if it's been posted earlier but the latest episode of the Steve Dangle Podcast dedicates an entire hour to this with Rick Westhead as the guest.

I'm gonna use that as a launching off point to rant a bit.

Steve Dangle does far more good for the hockey community than bad - which from what I gather is being a Leafs fan according to most people here. He deserves a lot more respect than he gets on the internet.

- Agent Provacateur with Allen Walsh is one of the most interesting hockey podcasts out there with regards to behind the scenes stuff.
- Despite having the ability to coast by just catering to the Leafs fanbase, Dangle has created dedicated podcasts for each Canadian fanbase that are hosted by fans of that team. He didn't have to do this, the Leafs fanbase dwarfs all the other fanbases in Canada. He's arguably done a better job of covering other teams than Sportsnet and TSN.
- Neither him nor any of his co-hosts are Hockey Men - as in their primary source of income does not rely on being in the good graces of the NHL. An example of how this affects commentary: When that hot mic incident with Tim Peel came out, the mainstream hockey media danced around it. Dangle and Co. were the only ones to actually harshly criticize the state of reffing in pro hockey as it rightfully should be.

The innocent players are going to keep coming out to clear their names. Those who remain silent are certainly going to invite scrutiny.

I wonder, and I'm not implying anything bad on either party here, if Quartexx didn't push Timmins to come out with this release, after making their own due dilligence of course.

the "1" doesn't want to cooperate.

I wish people would stop sheepishly repeating the Hockey Canada sanitized "covering our asses" version when it's obvious what's been happening here.

Stop phrasing it like she "didn't want to cooperate". It's wrong, inhumane and creepy.

The victime "chose" not to cooperate like a clerk "chooses" to give the cash register when a thief pulls a knife on him. Some choices aren't really choices. She faced intense pressure from a gang of rapists during and after her gang rape, was in distress and then faced legal pressure from over a dozen lawyers hellbent on destroying her credibility and twisting the facts after having to live with events that have scarred her for life. She didn't have much choosing to do and was very evidently legally threatened.

As I said a week or two ago, we knew Hockey Canada was lying about this. It's now clear that they know who are the players involved and have participated in a cover up with money destined for sports. And from Global's report, it's pretty clear that the rapists are trying as best as they can to cover their tracks but this won't be enough if the pressure from public opinion keeps mounting, instead of having a bunch of sheeps repeat the lawyer narrative that "we can't do anything since that girl doesn't want to cooperate".

Grow a spine and stand up for the victim instead of the creeps here, will you.

If you're too drunk to consent, I am highly skeptical of your ability to identify the condition of your eyes regardless of how many mirrors are present.

Assen na yo!

I don't know, I've been pretty f***ed up and I've been able to look in a mirror and visually tell that I'm f***ed up. You don't necessarily lose the ability to see when you're drunk

That just didn't came out well.

Many victims refuse to participate in police investigations / judicial proceedings in sexual assault cases for a myriad of very good reasons.

I didn't think I should have had to explain this, but considering the amount of shitstains indulging in victim blaming in these threads, I probably should have.

Globe and mail reporting that counsel for one group of players admitting that the event did occur but was consensual, another group that was in the room, left without taking part.

Presuming things happened as she said, it's pretty easy to infer that the second group had the moral judgement to at least be uncomfortable with what was happening, but not the courage to stop it. Step up now boys.

Wouldn't standing up for the victim be trying to do everything you can to accommodate her wishes and avoid her being publically outed?

I would hope all 8 of these guys fry and aren't enabled to do something like this again in any capacity and they don't deserve to be professional hockey players.
But if that requires going against the victim's wishes of staying anonymous then no amount of satisfaction you get from them being outed is worth going against what she wants.
