Rick Westhead is the grim reaper.

Everyone is coming out of the woodwork looking for a payday. These guys could be innocent and people are ready to hang them. You guys would make the worst jurors.

I love how you both accuse everyone else of rushing to accuse people and then right before say that people are coming out for the money.

Why would anyone have faith in someone they don't know.
I love hockey.
But hockey players can be some of the most petulant, entitled people you've ever met.
Young males + alcohol + top-of-the-hockey-world ego = get teenage girls the f*** out of here.
When I was a kid, OHL hockey players would show up at a fun party and turn it into a f***ing shitshow.
I have faith that most of them are good people and that a small, but very vocal, number of idiots are ruining it for everyone.

This is what HF looks right now :

Regarding the 2018 incident. If you read the video transcripts as well as text messages that were submitted to police by the players lawyers it pretty much exonerates them from criminal wrong doing. I certainly don't like what they did consent or not.

It's possible the mother and daughter saw a payday knowing HC would want this swept under the rug.

I will wait to pass judgement on the 2003 incident until I hear more details.

what the f*** is next

You can reasonably expect at least one more thread to go in this new forum:

You also said that you had never before been informed of the fact that obscene incidents had occurred at events organized under the aegis of Hockey Canada. Your policy advisor, Mr. Raphael Yacobi-Harris, met Hockey Canada representatives on two occasions, on November 30, 2020 and January 26, 2021.
What was the purpose of the meeting, and did Hockey Canada tell you about the obscene incidents that occurred at the time or at any other time?
//
For the meetings held in 2020 and 2021, it was the office of my predecessor. I don't have any information about it.

I have no idea what they are referring to. But I am guessing it is going to be looked at more.

Good luck trying to get text messages from 2003 on their Nokia phones. There is no evidence except he said/she said.

Wouldn't you agree that it is a bit contradictory to make the very bold claim that "everyone is coming out of the woodwork looking for a pay day" (implies the accusers are lying for money), and then immediately say "these guys could be innocent and people are ready to hang them"?

At first I thought it meant 2003 born players, but no it says the 2003 WC. It seems incredibly opportunistic, given the timing of the other investigation and 19 years later.

What else is HC going to say after being under a microscope now?

Get a grip.

Sexual assault victims typically have a very hard time going forward. Attitudes seem to be changing and more victims finally have the courage to go public now. Just because someone didn't have the gusto to go forward until now, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Also, this could have been something that was complained about but was swept under the rug or possibly covered up by hockey Canada.

Edit: The victims in these assaults are often teenage girls (as young as 14). Doesn't surprise me at all that many would wait until they are in their 20s to come forward.

Quote from Jordin Tootoo's biographical book, All The Way: My Life on Ice with respect to the 2003 World Juniors

**A quote does not imply guilt.**

> The other teams had some future stars, too, including a seventeen-year-old playing for Russia who no one had ever heard of before named Alexander Ovechkin.

> But frick, we were just kids back then. The shit that we did. . . . We were horny young men. We were in Halifax and we had every goddamned girl hitting on us. What are you going to do? *Let's start slaying these broads.* And it wasn't just one-on one action. A few of the guys would get a couple of girls after practice and head into one of the rooms. Enough said.

> We went undefeated through the preliminary round and then beat the Americans 3-2 in the semifinals. The Russians were undefeated as well when we met them in the finals. Of course, Canada versus Russia has been the big hockey rivalry going all the way back to 1972. It felt like the whole country was watching us.

This quote by Jordin Tootoo is specifically referring to THAT team at THAT competition.

Taken from Reddit.

People should really consider the age of the victims here when considering to make a big deal about delays in reporting. The perpetrators themselves are aged 16-20. The victims are likely teenagers, possibly still in high school. High school is brutal for anyone with a bad reputation. Imagine walking through high school halls with everyone knowing you've had sex with multiple partners at once. High school kids aren't going to be overly sympathetic about "details" like consent.
