Last years tournament created them. Canada also didn't draw the 3 worst teams. Austria is in the other group.

Agreed, if I noticed him it was usually a bad thing. He has been great as a 19 year old.

He and Drysdale have this game on complete cruise control. It’s not even a challenge for either guy. Probably time to sit them for the 3rd and let the other guys get some ice time.

You are allowed to be critical of the way a player is playing in a tournament in the present....without it being a referendum on his future as a hockey player. Byfield hasn't been very good up to this point, that has absolutely nothing to do with whether he will or won't be a good NHL player.

It's funny how a small sample size can change people's opinions. At the college level, a guy like Zegras hasn't produced like a top 5 prospect in hockey but has a few good games in the WJC, and he's a god. Meanwhile, a guy like Byfield puts up similar production to what you'd see from a top 3 pick and has few bad games and suddenly is a bust.

the bracket they are in is such a joke. No Russian, no Sweden. No USA. They didn’t even draw the Czechs.

whats the point of winning a tournament when most of your games are against the dregs. It’s not an achievement to beat any of these teams they’ve played and keep playing in their “bracket”.

Playing the way they’re supposed to, care more about that than the score. Completely breaking the Swiss players will to compete in the offensive zone.

Well if you would take the time to watch his college games and see who he was playing with compared to schools like BC, Wis, etc. you would know why his numbers were that way.

Can you name 1 player without looking that played at BU? I know you can't.

Byfield has never played like a first round pick at any international event ever since U17.

His season stats aren't as good as guys like Perfetti, Rossi, etc...

Who cares about stats. If you think Byfield has the skillset to be a top 3 pick, good for you. If someone else thinks his skillset is not that good, then that's a fair opinion as well. I happen to think he will be a middle 6 center at the next level. I didn't have him anywhere near the top 5 of the draft. That's an opinion. I can be wrong too.
