Ok, going to put this one behind us. Canada literally won just one of four games played this tournament, pretty dismal.

This won't make sense... but I think they're the only ones that could beat the US (SISU, team game, confident nation, intangibles). But I think they are 50-50 with Swedes and I don't think Swedes matchup well against States.

Yes I know that makes no sense.lol
Finland lost to the US by 5 goals in the preliminaries though, while Sweden beat the US in a pre-tournament game. I agree that Sweden and Finland are almost 50/50, but not that Finland are a better match up against the US.

Czechs beat Finn's in exhibition last week .. not sure it means much.

Finn's just seem to be good at Semi's lately. I agree there is no logic to it other than gut feeling. I just keep seeing Finn's winning big games lately.

F*ck I missed alot. So we won? Finnish media is so slow I don't hear any news of this.

But now we know who won the ''Liiga''.

I don’t think the Czechs are a worse team than Finland. I agree that preliminaries don’t mean much, but you can’t base Finland being a better match-up on anything other than vibes. They have also not been better than Sweden at clutch games in recent tournaments so that’s a vibes based claim too. They have 3 medals at the U18s and u20s since 2018, while Sweden have 5.

Jesus christ :D what a shock, Finland just won QF against Canada and who's here, you talking some weird BS and talking about Sweden. Little brother complex?

Recent tournaments? In the last 10 years of U18 and U20 hockey Finland has 5 gold medals and Sweden 2, so we can leave it there.

It’s a response to a question about the future of the tournament and what I think about Finlands chances. It’s little brother complexy by you to feel the need to comment on that though.

Right. Not the horrible pk, or stupid o-zone penalties. It was the officiating.
Yes. The team was terrible. The defense is a mediocre group and the PK was a disaster. But if the refs had called a penalty when a Canadian player was tackled just before the tying goal and not fallen for a dive previously Canada might very well have won. They would llikely have lost a semi final game and they would have been rolled by the US but would have played another game.

Nah, you are the little brother in U18 and U20 hockey, we have over double amount of gold than you in the last 10 years. And this is junior hockey topic.

The guy said he thought Finland have better chances than Sweden in an eventual final, and my response to that what that I don’t agree. Why? Sweden beat USA in the preliminaries while Finland lost by 5 goals. His response was to say that he trusts Finland more than Sweden in clutch games becuase of recent junior history. My response was that Sweden have won more medals than Finland recently at the junior level. Nothing at all weird about the discussion. But of course you have to come in here and for no reason pretend I said something controversial. Which is a weird thing to do.

Sweden beat Finland two days ago at this tournament, so there is no reason for me to be insecure about our chances mate. We have also factually won more medals which I said to disprove the argument that Czechboy presented. And it was all light hearted.

He’s an awful coach in both, in having a well structured puck controlling game system and in firing up his players to play the best game they can play. What saved Finland today was that Canada had a coach that is even way worse in coaching than Marttila - even how unbelievable that seems to me.
He's my old coach and i can confirm this. There's a reason why he's only coaching age groups up to 18 years old in national teams, he's not very good at firing up his players like you said.

He'd be in big trouble with big charachters. I'm not sure why he still get's these jobs. I remember almost falling asleep when he talks, sometimes he tried to have some "Tami Tamminen" mannerisms and he even sounds a bit like him.

Why can’t finnish fans ever accept me responding to people from other countries? When I defend swedish hockey in comparison to finnish hockey you always have to jump in and call me dumb. Even when I’m not talking to finns. Strange behaviour.

Once again, feeling the need to say this because I do not rate the finnish hockey team as highly as you is weird. And actually dumb.
No I just think you are good enterteinment for his hockey forum. And yes I know you hate Finland and Finnish hocey as you've pointed out many times.

Sweden has a lot of medals yes, but way less gold medals than us. I happily take all the gold medals we have over plenty of silver and bronze. 🙂

I don’t hate finnish hockey at all. I just claim swedish hockey is better becuase I think it is.

And I obviously like Finland in general. No reason not to. Supported you every game at the Euros. I just think Sweden are better than Finland at hockey and tend to argue that.

I've now twice said it's a gut feeling and nothing else. I have no horse in this race. Maybe find a Finn to argue with about how your nation is better? My hunch says you'd get a lot of feedback.

You've both been kicking the shit out of my team for a good decade now.

If I had to pick based on the U18 and U20 result.. I'd say Finland to be honest.... you mention clutch games...

1G and 1B vs 1S and 1B - edge Finland at U20

2G and 1B vs 1G, 1S and 2B - edge Finland as I value Golds more.

Overall Finns have more golds at U20 and U18 as well.. that actually surprised me.

9-3 in Golds. Finn's seems good at gold medal games which was my original point about Sisu and clutch.

Good luck in semis against them! I'll be cheering for both of you and a nice dramatic match.

Okay you don't hate Finnish hockey but just you dislike it which you have said many times.. BTW you have some problems with using letters correctly.

Overall medals is a whole different story and Sweden win that comfortably though but I guess people don’t think other medal round games are ”clutch games”? I think Sweden have been better than Finland in juniors recently for many reasons but consistency is the main one (there are some very long streaks that support that and gold isn’t everything). It’s also weird that people don’t look at Hlinka since it suits their argument I guess.

But yeah, this particular semi will be close for sure. How does one ”cheer for both teams” though?
