The most infuriating thing is starting Hill today is a zero risk option. There is no chance in hell Hill plays any worse than Binnington did in Game 1 and 2. There is literally only upside.

Just couldn’t though due to a commitment to some dumb orthodoxy like “but he’s our guy!” or something similarly stupid. Someone needs to ask these idiots if they actually want to win or not as they barf out tropes like “but he’s the starter!”

It’s unlikely either of these two goalies will out play hellebuyck

If US loses, I won't care the slightest, but if they win, I will enjoy it because I know how much that will disappoint people like yourself who were pounding your chest after the big win vs Sweden. . Does that make sense?
I would absolutely LOVE you to find a single post where I did anything close to pound my chest. But you can't, and you won't, because you'd rather just make grand statements that everyone knows are false.

But if that's what it takes for you to be able to look yourself in the mirror and admit that this is entertaining and quality hockey, who am I to stand in your way?

Lastly, I know it's probably unfathomable for a xenophobic American to imagine, but not everyone is as nationalistic as you. I, for example, have been known to cheer for different nations when I have strong enough feelings about certain players. In 96 i was rooting for USA because of Richter. In 2014 I was rooting for Sweden because of Lundqvist. Can you imagine such a crazy thing? Someone being driven to cheer for their love of the sport and the competitors as opposed to arbitrarily drawn political borders? No, you can't. Because for some reason, despite having zero interest in this tournament, you're lurking in the Canada/Sweden GDT and getting upset that Canadians (like every other fan when their team won) were celebrating.

Right. You lack your own internal motivations. You’re motivated by the disappointment of others. We get it.

Binnington literally just showed Cooper that nothing is safe with him in net. He was scrambling after the EN goal and Aho had him beat but missed the net.

If Canada was leading 3-0, this game would be going to OT right now. How Cooper can start this guy again is fireable. He almost single handedly cost Canada this game and tournament. If Canada won in OT, you can basically guarantee the US was throwing the game against Sweden.
I like how you said singlehandedly like Canada didn't just completely fall apart defensively in the last few minutes.....

They weren't. They were shorthanded (6v5) and Binnington had the chance to freeze multiple pucks but couldn't handle the shots.

What do you think is going to happen defensively when the other team has more players than you and your goalie can't catch a puck?

Fun fact: The last 2 shots Finland had on Canada's net went in. Luckily they never hit the net again after those goals.

they were shorthanded??? Bruh with 5 guys on the ice you should not be allowing cross ice passes like they were allowing.... a 6 on 5 is a lot easier than 5 on 4 PP to defend because you have more people taking up lanes. Finland had like 5 shots from high danger areas when that's literally what you are trying to stop in that situation. They looked like the Sabres trying to defend a lead lmao. That was the worst 6 on 5 defense i've seen all year.

Did you look at the game log?

The last 2 shots that hit the net went in. After that goal, one shot was blocked and 3 missed the net. Binnington did not face another shot after allowing 2 consecutive shots in the net (thankfully). He wasn't making any saves.

Canada allowed 2 shots on net in the final 1:44 of regulation. That's pretty good isn't it? 2 shots in 1:44 while the other team has an extra skater.

Both shots went in.

They literally collapse defensively. Granlud took a shot in the slot at 12 feet of the net. How can that be. The second goal had passes thru the slot....
The Canadian D coverage in the last minutes of the game was IMO shameful.

Like I said earlier, Canada allowed 2 shots in the final 1:44 of regulation being down 6v5.

Both went in.

Are we giving credit to Binnington for shots he didn't face? The collapsed defense allowed 2 shots. The goalie had a .000 save percentage on them. The goalie is allowed to make a save.

Here's the gamelog for people in denial:

both of the shots were literally taken right in the area where any shooter would want it with nobody even contesting them whatsoever squared up with the net with nobody in their area code to defend them. Goal 2 was literally after he took a shot from Laine+point blank opportunity from Aho and his D-man got beat to the puck giving the Finns chance to setup a one timer from the office....

Okay, so a goalie facing 2 shots in the final 1:44 of regulation while the team is down 6v5 and allowing both of them in the net is all on the D.

Got it.

That same D ended up being perfect after the shots - not allowing Finland to even get a shot on goal in the final 1:17 of the game.

3-4 (+ENG) Loss against Canada without Heiskanen and half of our defense despite giving 3 easy goals. Finland going to dominate in Milano With Miro and Saros on the net, no even need to play that tournament
