To be honest I was a little scared after the Czechs got those 2 goals to tie it. Seen uber talented Canadian junior teams do this before - give up the lead and then lose in OT.

Textbook play for the OT winner.

The last 2 weeks were great for Wright's confidence as a player.

Can’t help but admire the Czech team’s “never say die” spirit in this tournament.

I say this often. But if I have to read about the 2005 world Junior team.. then I think the 2005 world championships has to count as a best on best for the exact same reason the 2005 jr team is heralded. Everyone was available.

Canada has 3 back to back best on bests and back to back world Juniors... 6 of 7 Skoda cup finals too.

2004 WCH is in this boat as well.

That 05 world junior team was Canada's best roster ever. Crosby, Bergeron, Carter, Perry, Getzlaf, Mike Richards, Dion Phaneuf... Can't believe Canada left Crosby out of the olympics in Torino in 2006. lol They got destroyed if I remember.

2015 gives them a run for their money. & IIRC that squad was never down (by even 1 goal) at any point during the tournament. Tons of talent on it too.

Canada has 3 players in top 20 scorers in the NHL, and Soviet Union was superior. Canada is the best but not superior, if they were superior, other countries wouldn't stand a chance, is that so?

When exactly was the Soviet Union superior? Since best-on-best tournaments started with the Summit Series, here are the results:

Summit Series: Canada
Canada Cup: Canada won 4 out of 5 Cups, Soviets 1.
Word Cup of Hockey: Canada won 2 out of 3 (Soviet Union didn't exist, Russia didn't win any)
Olympics (starting with 1998 when pros were first allowed to play): Canada won 3 out of 7 (Again no Soviets but Russia won 1)

That's 16 best on best tournaments that Canada and either the Soviets or Russia competed in. Canada has won 10, Soviets/Russia 2.

So again, when did this Soviet superiority occur?

You can combine registered players of Finland, Sweden, Russia, Czechia and Canada still has more. And since you like to talk about history, Soviet Union+Russia is pretty much on par with Canada in medals so i don't know about that massive lead you're talking about.

Not true at all in best-on-best tournaments. See my post above.

For all those posters who hoped that for a Canada k
I'm not bitter, but i just find it hilarious that Canadian fans have this urge to repeat how they are superior in hockey after each win. And i just come and remind you about the facts.

The fact is that Canada's performance is superior.

The fact is that subjective opinion on the impressiveness of that fact with context about registered players is in fact, not a fact.

1. More registered players.

2. Favourable referees.

3. Hosting all the time.

4. Cheap / illegal play.

5. Announcers pronouncing names wrong.

6. NHL teams withholding player participation.

7. Something to do with WW II.

8. IIHF decisions that are actually made by Canada.

9. Endless pots of gold for all kinds of bribery options.

10. If other countries took hockey seriously Canada would never win anything.

11. Russia.

12. Hockey Canada scandal.

13. No clothes dryer in the Russian dressing room.

14. Russian team had to walk 100 yards from the bus to the rink.

15. Canada’s dressing room in Canada is better than everyone else’s.

16. Canada always plays the late game in Canada.

17. Canada, just because.

It is interesting. Throughout the tournament to varying degrees all three NHL'ers left something to be desired and weren't as dominate as you would have liked, but last night all three were arguably are three best players. Stepped up when it mattered most.

I've been swimming in your tears few times aswell, but you weren't bitter i'm sure. You totally didn't care, just moaned like a girl when Canada lost and repeated how you don't care :)

If you Canadians won or lost with a dignity, nobody had any issues.

Finnish fans after their team was eliminated 4 days ago:

Canadian program is nothing special, it's actually worse than many other programs. Fact is that your pool of junior players is ~10 times bigger than any other countries (except for USA).

These Bedards and McDavids has nothing to do with Canadian program. Every year when Canada doesn't win, it's just a catastrophe. Two OT wins now in a row, but win's a win. Congratulations!

sure I guess.... nice to see someone who actually does care about them while 99.999% of hockey fans are following the NHL playoffs.
Maybe that's how it goes in your bubble. Can you find me a better team from playoffs than from example, team Russia, USA and Sweden were in 2019 when Finland won the gold with their E team? As I said, it's about the system not guys on the paper

Fact is we keep pumping out golds.

However, please dont stop telling stories about how someone almost beat us, theyre fun to listen to
We've beat you many times during recent years, your excuses were equally fun to listen. Were you one of them who sent hate email to the stick manufacturers?

These same mouthbreathers have been pain in my back for the past few years, win or lose. Always same mantra about Canada being superior, even if they get their asses kicked.
