Last 9 years

7 Gold Medal games

5 Gold Medal Wins.

Canadian program doing wonderfully after a lean run before that for 3 years.

Canada dominating World Hockey since Sochi 2014.
Canadian program is nothing special, it's actually worse than many other programs. Fact is that your pool of junior players is ~10 times bigger than any other countries (except for USA).

These Bedards and McDavids has nothing to do with Canadian program. Every year when Canada doesn't win, it's just a catastrophe. Two OT wins now in a row, but win's a win. Congratulations!

The program has literally produced 20 gold medals at this tournament including 5 straight on 2 separate occasions, Canada is also clearly the only country capable of winning consecutive gold medals, no other country has done it in 20+ years.

Canada birthed hockey. Maybe show a little respect. The point is fair, though. Canada is a far more multi-cultural country than its European counterparts, so it's 35 million size doesn't accurately reflect the hockey playing population. Which is much smaller, and that should prove the point all the more, about Canadian dominance. It's 10x more true of America by the way.

What you’re saying makes no sense lol.
It doesn't make any sense because you don't understand what i said. Let me be simple, Canada isn't superior, Canada isn't dominating. In every tournament there's a country that's able to beat Canada and challenge them.

That's the miracle, not the fact that Canada's won 20 gold and whatnot. Canada has superior player masses, your program doesn't have to be as good as say Sweden's or Finland's. Get it?

Canada birthed hockey
It was invented in England right?

But using that logic the US should by far be the best hockey country in the world because they have 10x the population and money as Canada, but they aren’t the best.

Fact is Canada is dominating, the simple fact is if you win much more than everyone else = you’re dominating.

Sure. Canada has the highest registered players in the world. And you're saying "but the world almost beats you anyway". Well you try being us, with slightly more registered players. You try defending these titles year after year. It IS special. I know you're bitter right now but sit down, cool down, do whatever you have to do.

It was an amazing tournament and a fitting end to what was Ana amazing Gold Medal Game!
Czechia gave Canada all they could handle and more. You could tell the Czechia players were totally invested however I think Canada deep talent pool rose up to the occasion when it counted.

Of all players to come through Guenther and Wright. 2 of my least favourite picks heading into this game. It goes to show the dept this team had in the end.

Zelleweger, Hinds, Del Mastor were my top D picks. Clarke came through in the end for Cannda as well in this game.

Milic earned a chance to get drafted!

NOT one of the best ever Team Canada WJHC teams but a winner! That is all you can ask for!

Congratulations boys with many of you are 2 times defending champs.

Hockey Canada sure as shit needed that! LOL

I'm not bitter, but i just find it hilarious that Canadian fans have this urge to repeat how they are superior in hockey after each win. And i just come and remind you about the facts.

LOL, NO.

It seems you have a hard time getting out of your own way. Not ours or Hockey Cananda’s problem.

Notice the difference between population and registered hockey players.

Bedard goes pointless for one game and all of a sudden the sky is falling. He certainly made #2 OA pick Simon Nemec look like a pylon in the OT goal in the Quarters…

Name another player in the tournament who had everyone on the ice focussed on him everytime he came out. And the fact he's 17. Kid was unbelievable.

The medal counts state otherwise. The amount of NHL players state otherwise. The amount of all time greats state otherwise

Canada has 3 players in top 20 scorers in the NHL, and Soviet Union was superior. Canada is the best but not superior, if they were superior, other countries wouldn't stand a chance, is that so?
When it’s you versus the world and you still have a massive lead in medals… yeah that’s dominant and superior.

Name me the top 20 players all time. You’ll see a very common trend.

You can combine registered players of Finland, Sweden, Russia, Czechia and Canada still has more. And since you like to talk about history, Soviet Union+Russia is pretty much on par with Canada in medals so i don't know about that massive lead you're talking about.

In the end it turned out as it should. Canada was better for most of the match, but for how we improved again in the match and were not far from victory, the Czech team deserves a lot of respect for that. And I'm hugely proud of our players, after all those years of utter failure, the whole championship was a wonderful thing for us. Congratulations Canada, the title is in good hands.

Of course we have more.

More registered players, more NHL players, more HHoFers, more scoring titles, more gold medals, more success.

Canada also gets huge advantage on this tournament they have hosted 10 of the last 20 tournaments. I can only imagine how many gold medals Finland would have if we had the same we hosted 2 of the 20 or Sweden or Usa or Russia or Czechia etc...

Take it up with your hockey federation then. When the IIHF stripped Russia of this championship, it got bids from several Canadian cities on short notice and not one from anywhere else. So tough beans.

1. More registered players.

2. Favourable referees.

3. Hosting all the time.

4. Cheap / illegal play.

5. Announcers pronouncing names wrong.

6. NHL teams withholding player participation.

7. Something to do with WW II.

8. IIHF decisions that are actually made by Canada.

9. Endless pots of gold for all kinds of bribery options.

10. If other countries took hockey seriously Canada would never win anything.

11. Russia.

12. Hockey Canada scandal.
