Means nothing, he is playing against mostly people who won't sniff the NHL, and even the big ones who can skate made him obsolete.
He, like Yakupov, preys on slow and clownish defencemen in the O where 95% of the kids will never sniff the NHL. Yakupov got drafted first overall playing the same style game as Bedard.
When the going gets tough, he disappears into nothingness. When people can match him stride for stride, he is ineffective at best.
There is no trolling going on here. He does not have the speed to allow his style to succeed at the NHL level. He is going to be the biggest bust since Yakupov, and probably bigger since he has way more hype.
A part of me knows it is dumb to encourage this, but I can't resist.
Connor Bedard is 17 years old. If you saw his post-game interview, he was visibly uncomfortable with the question about his performance in this tournament. He said he didn't want the interview to be about him at all, just the team.
Everyone thinks because he scored so many points that there is no pressure on him. I say the opposite. You could see it on his face that as more and more attention got put upon him, he became less comfortable. If you look at Fantilli, he played loose tonight. Connor played a bit tight. He still created a boatload of opportunities, but not like we were used to. The important thing is A) he found a way to contribute to the win, and B) showed maturity and humility beyond his years.
Let him grow and develop. He is not a flash in the pan. He's the real deal. He is a literal child dealing with a lot of pressure from a lot of angles that neither you nor I could ever truly understand.
Now continue with your random troll comments, I await them with a smile.
