Not overly impressed with OHL defence. Not impressed by WHL defence earlier either. Kind of disappointed that Tippet and Mascherin have not taken advantage of really good opportunities....

Yeah, the "d " has been pretty brutal by the OHL so far.

Russian goalie has been sharp, would love to switch him with ours.

Typical lament of the last 10 years.

kyrou has been very quiet too.

I know it's probably not a popular opinion and he likely won't get an even halfways serious consideration from Hockey Canada brass but a guy I like every time I have seen him is that Ang. He is speedy, I know he can snipe and he makes smart reads all the time. I like him a lot, wish they would take him seriously.

I missed the first period of this game, not overly impressed with the OHL players from what I did see. I liked a bit of what I saw from Pu, Katchouk and Timmins. No one looked great though.

Only caught the last half of the 3rd period(Didn't know it was aired on Sportsnet).

How did Timmins looks the rest of the game, and what kind of chance does he have for Team Canada for those who know more then I?

I thought he did a really good job getting his shots through traffic in that last half of the 3rd period, they almost scored a couple off of rebounds from his shots.

The WHL goalies were pretty adequate.

Today's goaltending was obviously a pretty one sided affair. That first goal from Samorukov was a gift.

Russians shake off jetlag, outscoring Kanadolov 8-2 in the last 3 periods.
Just add one proper defenceman in Samorukov and two forwards to give the team a 2nd scoring line and it is a whole new game. Sokolov looks good. Lipanov was noticeable in the first half.

Big one from Melnichuk. He is pushing Sukhachev off the WJC squad with this game. Could have easily been a loss if not for Melnichuk.

Very one sided, wells didn't match up to the Russian tender.

The Russian side did have some damn nice goals though. OHL defense left a lot to be desired also.

Even though we got severely outshot, team Russia looked solid. Well coached, knew what to do and how to get there. Let's see on Monday how this thing goes.

Timmins looks like the best OHL defenceman. Gadjovich was noticeably good for OHL. I haven't been high on him in the past, so I was surprised.

Timmins seems like the best of the bunch for sure. Good offensively and looks at least adequate defensively.

Having said that the bar to be the best among this OHL group is not very high, it's a weak crop IMO. Don't want much of these guys on the WJC team.

I also think Timmins looks real good. Durzi has sort of impressed me. I like Katchouk as well, he's got some skill but shouldn't be in the top 9 for the WJC.

Oh wow, Timmins what a shot. Could use a player like that on the WJC team.

A lot of players on the OHL can skate quick and play fast, but gotta find the best ones.
