Dominant performance by Canada. Thought this game would be a barnburner, but nope. A fantastic tournament altogether. I was more entertained by it than I have the playoffs thus far

Does anyone know, what happens with the IIHF bonus prize/cheque for going undefeated in regulation time, in the tournament? Does it stay with Hockey Canada?

It went to the team/federation, it's their job what they do with it. I guess they'll inform soon enough what they're going to do with it.

If I heard correctly--it pays for the operating expenses for this tournament and the rest goes to grass roots Canadian hockey.

McLellan does deserve a lot of credit here. Sure he had a stacked team, but he managed to get them all to play the way he wanted. Seguin, Spezza, Eberle; guys who sometimes make some dumb plays in the NHL made almost none in this tournament and were standouts.

Absolutely, this team was very well coached. I was really impressed with how our defense played as well; prior to the tournament the consensus was that defense would be a weakness for us, but the entire D corps bought into the system and played exceptionally.

I don't find it disrespectful because why would they stand there and listen to the Canadian anthem ... they got outplayed let them leave if they want too
Because that's how things are usually done. When Russia won Gold in previous years, the other teams stayed to listen to the Russian national anthem. Even if the Russian anthem is the best in the world and is pleasant to listen to, it still hurts for the losers.

The confidence Hall and Ebs will have gained from playing with Sid will be invaluable. I haven't seen Hall play like this in a long time.

McLellan has to be excited about coaching Hall/Ebs next season instead of the has-been chokers he was stuck with in California.

Russians leaving the ice before the anthem is 5/5 Classless Subban's.

They were the defending champs. Have some class, will ya.

They should have played the anthem first. Would you want to be the one standing there awkwardly for 10 minutes while the confetti rained down and the trophy got passed around? They did it wrong and I don't blame the Russians for leaving the ice. I did see that about 7 or 8 of them stuck around for a while after most had left though.

It doesn't matter. It's about respect. I remember sitting through the Ducks winning the Cup in 07, and thinking about how awful all those Sens players must feel, standing there, in Anaheim's arena, watching them celebrate for a dozen or so minutes.

It's a responsibility to the game and a show of sportsmanship. Nobody likes to lose, and it can be agonizing, but that's the way it goes.

They were embarrassed. let them escape. Not a class thing.

Most of them weren't even standing on the blueline when the two teams lined up. Some of them were 15 feet away, all willy nilly. To me that shows you are embarrassed not only for yourself but for your country.

Can burns play LD? If not, he doesn't have a hope in hell of landing a roster spot. Not with Doughty, Subban, Weber and Pieterangelo at RD.

I think he'd be a great guy as a seventh D. Plus he's played the wing. Certainly if there was an injury to any of those guys he'd have a shot.

Maybe we can be ranked 3rd now

The whole world knows that Canada is the Number 1 Country in the world. I said it before and will say it again- the World Hockey Championships is a great tournament, but since it is not Best on Best, it should not have a big merit in the IIHF world rankings. If the US had more of its better players not decline their invitations- it would have been Canada-USA in the Finals.

Regardless of IIHF rankings, the whole world knows Canada is the Top Dog in hockey. Funny how after Russia won last year, that some of the Russian posters were arguing that they are Number 1 (forgetting the disaster that was Sochi) (LOL). When Canada sends a good team, it steamrolls this tournament. Canada in the 2018 Olympics will be very scary, and better than 2014 in my opinion.

Letang and Seabrook are also RD as well who would likely get a shot over Burns. Seabrook would play with Keith. Letang, if he's not injured... Ekblad as well!

The WHC should not be weighted the same as the Olympics, for sure.

Tyler Myers as is as well. I'm sure there are others.

If anything, Canada lacks depth on LD. We have Keith, Vlasic, Bouwmeester, Hamhuis and Giordano.

Would be nice if Subban, Doughty or Weber could play LD.
