They shook hands just left right after they received there medals

Ah ok somehow I missed that. I don't usually watch this tournament so I'm not sure if it is customary, but it seems strange to not have the silver medal winners there during the anthem.

Everyone's saying Ovechkin stayed, though, and tried to get the other players to stay as well.

That's not good enough! Ovi should have walked the Canadians back to their dressing room, patting them on the back the whole way! :sarcasm:

Well done Canada! :yo:
Stratospheric team this year, nobody could stop them

After all, France was the best team against that canadian steamroller and almost got 1 point
French fighting spirit for sure! :sarcasm:

Wasn't half of Team France born in Quebec? ;)

I don't find it disrespectful because why would they stand there and listen to the Canadian anthem ... they got outplayed let them leave if they want too

Don't worry, Flyers will never play this style of hockey. FWIW, I don't think there is a club in NHL that plays this style with rapid speedy combinations.

Nobody would have the star power of this team, for sure.

After just a 2 - 0 win over the Czechs in the semi finals I was not expecting the outburst of goals in the finals against Russia that we saw. I do however expected Canada to win the way they played in this tournament was exceptional. As a Oilers fan I was glad to see the high production from Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle and them getting bumped from the 3rd line to the first line. It was nice to see Jason Spezza win gold and get Canadas player of the tournament after all the snubs for him at the Olympic level. Finally Crosby becomes part of the club that has won Olympic gold, WHC gold and a stanley cup. A great tournament for Canada, Canada has won the WJC and the WHC this year, it has been a great year for Canadian hockey!

Malkin and Ovechkin have learned to respect the Canadian players by playing with and against them for a decade. I am sure the respect is mutual. In contrast, a lot of the KHL players act like they constantly have a big chip on their shoulders and don't like being outclassed by their NHL counterparts.

Yak didn't play. Why bring it up? That was from the WJCs years ago. Looking at his feed, people think Yak actually said that after the game.

It was a Canadian hockey player making a comment, based on misinformation apparently, toward Russian hockey. Not Yakupov or the Oilers.

Agreed.

Seems like politics may have prevented Tarasenko getting more minutes in this tournament as well.

He's not Canadian at all
We just have one and he plays in France since many years now.

St. Pierre and Miguelon should be part of Canada. We should have started a war over it dammit. Now i'm fired up!!!!

My admiration for Alexander Ovechkin has increased. He's a class act on and off the ice. A lot of Canadians denigrate him because he's so damn good and he's not Canadian. I think I've been guilty of that myself in the past.

Sheer domination by Canada. Comparable to our 2014 olympic team. Shows what our country is capable of when we get some quality players to show up and represent Canada. At this point, we're still untouchable.

Congrats to all countries on a great tournament, it was very entertaining from start to finish. I look forward to trying to defend the championship next year.

2013 had arguably just as good a team, but had Lindy Ruff behind the bench...

McLellan does deserve a lot of credit here. Sure he had a stacked team, but he managed to get them all to play the way he wanted. Seguin, Spezza, Eberle; guys who sometimes make some dumb plays in the NHL made almost none in this tournament and were standouts.
