well isn't that just a kick in the shins.

what little interest I had in this team and tournament just suffered a strain to the obliques.

Gotta hope for the best and stand behind them anyway.

Who knows? Maybe they will end up being better then the sum of their parts with guys buying into roles in a good system drawn up by the coaching staff and quality net minding.

Of course the quality is still here. But it would certainly help a lot if someone like Barzal or Seguin is able and willing to join "last minute." Now I see a team full of very skilled players, no doubt about that, but with no clear difference maker.

There is no difference maker for sure. Seguin or Barzal are really needed, preferably both of them.

I'll still watch the tourney but losing Tavares is going to be a tough hill to climb for the team.

Agree. Maybe Stone could become a leader, but not sure about that.

Stone is a leader through and through more than Tavares has ever been, competes harder and cares as much as anyone.

Its pretty fruterating how many good players turned down invites for Canada while every other countries best players go outside of injuries or players without contracts.

I know we still had 2 spots available before Tavares leaving...but does Tavares leaving open up a 3rd spot or is it still only 2 spots left ?

Too bad about Tavares, the team will struggle more against top teams without a number one offensive centre. Hopefully it will be a good opportunity for a young forward.
