I expect the team to make the semi-finals. Wouldn't be shocked if it didn't, wouldn't be shocked if it advanced to the finals, but I think that the mobility of the defence is a huge asset. Vigneault is a pretty good coach, though he lacks experience internationally. I'd say he's a good enough choice to coach the team.

my expectations are lower. finishes 2nd. in the group and loses a 1/4 final against either the Swedes or Czechs.

I like this team's chances against the Czechs. I'd rather the Czechs than Switzerland. It's difficult to predict how the team will come together though. If this team's play is as disjointed as what we saw last year then the team could very easily go out in the quarterfinals.

I'm also curious to see if there is an announcement tomorrow regarding another forward. I could see Hockey Canada waiting for the Colorado series to finish to ask MacKinnon, and then if he's not available or refuses go to a few other round two casualties.

Makar would certainly help

Makar most definitely would help. MacKinnon would have as well. but, unfortunately sustained an injury. shoulder. ouch. hope it's not serious. that type of injury could derail a player for a season or two. If I were HC, I'd consider asking Jost to come again. had a difficult season, but was pretty good at last year's tourney. fits the age profile. a lot of '97s.

I'll cheer for my boys, Pickles, Burnzie and Jumbo Joe to grab the cup.

Jost might agree to go too, as he is a very close friend of Fabbro. We'll see. I'd like to see if Barzal agrees, then Dubois.

be interesting to see how many players they register today/tomorrow. could give some indication if they expect further playoff additions. My wish list would probably go (now that MacKinnon is on the IR) Barzal, LD (Towes) /RD (Makar) and Dubois. I'd hope to get 2 accepts out of those 4.

should be a interesting tourney.

1. Can the Americans finally compete for a gold?
2. Can the Russians w/all-star team go 10 and 0 score 6.6 GPG and run through the tournament like a hot knife through butter ala Team Canada Prague 2015?
3. Can our boys find some magic and pull off a minor upset? with a couple of additions...outside shot at it.

No they cant, they lost 2 games in preliminary tournament when almost in full strength, their defence really sucks. If they can win whole tourney? Of course, but not with ease.

1. Yes, definitely.
2. No. They surely can win, that's possible, but they are not the absolute favourites who are going to destroy everyone.
3. Canada winning gold would not be any upset in my eyes. Canada, Sweden, USA, Russia are the four top favourites, Czech Republic, Finland, maybe Switzerland aiming to attack from the second wave.

any new additions?

Wonder if they asked Barzal ? Makar? i guess Mckinnon is out...how about PLD ?

No one has said what they were in the exhibition but I believe that someone did post the practice units.

These are apparently the practice lines:

But, Wallace is saying...
