What? It's deeper but the top end is pretty low and inexperience. They essentially will have 3 second pairings and none of them are really strong defensively. Maybe Chabot. USA, Sweden and Russia will be able to sustain a lot of zone time against them

Some of you remind me of my mother: lament how bad the team is because there's no risk; if the team finishes poorly, you can crow about how right you were and if they do well you can be pleasantly surprised.
This team has some scoring and some grit, some good goaltenders and some good defence. There are certainly holes and maybe Hockey Canada twists some arms to bring in a few quality guys who get bounced out of the second round, but regardless, this team will challenge for a medal. Every team shows up at this tournament with holes in their roster. Many of the best players in the world are in the Stanley Cup playoffs and a lot of guys from a lot of countries will beg off for reasons great and small - contract issues, nursing injuries, fatigue, whatever. It would surely be nice to have everyone available make the trip over, but that never happens, so get over it.
Canada has won gold with players like Anson Carter being the key contributors and Canada has lost with Wayne Gretzky and Guy Lafleur playing. If these guys gel and are well enough coached, they will finish at or near the top of their pool and then the elimination games will be a bit of a crapshoot like always.

Happy for Cirelli. Definitely one of the most underrated players in the league. Hope he finally gets some attention.

As for the team it’s not the best possible but still easily the best in the tournament. Don’t get why some people think they will suck.

Still 3 spots open for a couple of Fs and 1 D. would love to see a couple of significant additions. NYIs specifically. Barzal Beauvillier and D Towes to balance out 4 LD with the 4 RD. shame that means no room for Makar if the Avs go out. but I'm enjoying watching Nate and Co go on a run here. so, maybe next year.

still opposed to Dylan Strome being there...50 games removed from his career being dead and buried in the desert. but, I'll be a Strome fan for 3 weeks in May. I hope he does well and lights the lamp.

well they do have Ovie, Kucherov,Malkin Kuznetsov. These are all offensive guys. They won't play much defence which is why I think Stone and Courtier are great additions to try and shut them down.

Chabot is easily a first pairing d man, if you compare that d core top to bottom its much better than many teams in the NHL. Russia with all its best d men cant even make a D core that strong.

Not much shut down but its on the big ice anyway so speed skill and posession is more important.

This is a Team Canada that will step up. I just get that feeling.

Seriously, some of these players should be ashamed for not making themselves available. If a guy like Ovechkin who won the cup, had a short summer then another year + playoffs goes then i'm sure most non injured players should make exceptions.
