Well, this team is on the weaker side. Very reminiscent of the 2017 WJC team.

I like the goaltending a lot. Good, young goaltenders are exactly what I want to see.

The defence is not bad. It lacks a clear #1 but otherwise is pretty mobile and young. I'm pleased to see Theodore, Montour, and Severson getting their debuts at this level. I haven't liked Nurse at this level but at least be brings something different.

The forwards are not good. Certainly one poster is going to have an interesting reaction to seeing Dylan Strome again. Tavares, Stone, and Couturier comprise a nice core but the rest of the pieces don't impress me. It will be good to see Marchessault internationally for the first time and I did want to see Matha included. Interesting to see that Athanasiou isn't there. I'm optimistic that Cirelli and Joseph could be good fourth liners, but the issue is that there appear to be six fourth liners. Turris is the pick that really confuses me. He was terrible this year - healthy scratch bad. Even if there were lingering health issues, I don't think that they are going to clear up between the end of Nashville's run and next week. We can expect that someone is going to be added given that there are only 12 forwards named thus far. If I had to guess I'd think that Hockey Canada has its eye on Barzal.

I'm very curious about the situation with Huberdeau. He easily improves this team. I recall reading last year that he wasn't even asked, but this year there were no details.

I like everything except for that Strome guy. There should never be a Strome anywhere close to a Team Canada ever forever and ever Amen.

oh man... looking it over again I see a few other names I don't like.

Hopefully we get 1-2 or 3 significant adds once the 2nd. rd. is done.

Love that Theodore and Montour are there,

Marchessault as well. some nice toys there.

3 skaters can still be added, I think they might try and find a couple more Fs to join the team after round 2, and maybe another D. Canada has been creeping towards maxing their rosters to have some depth guys on the bench in recent years and this trend could continue.

Its a good team, can for sure win the gold.

Lines?

Marchessault - Tavares - Stone
Couturier - Strome - Reinhart
Mantha - Henrique - Bertuzzi
Cirelli - Turris - Joseph

Nurse - Severson
Chabot - Montour
Theodore - Strecher
Fabbro

I assume Murray is the starting goalie.

they're alright as long as we staple Strome to the pressbox in his civies. and we come up with a bunch of jerks vibe like the Hurricanes got going on. then you never know.

Team Canada forwards are big (only Marchessault is under 6') they may not have the offence of Russia or US but they are going to be tough to play against. Stone and Courtier will shut some teams down.

Nice to see we're actually sending a team!

Also like seeing Chabot & Theodore on D & was hoping they'd ask Montour.

In what way do Russia have better offence than Canada?

Dylan Strome is one of the best players on the roster. Not sure what you're talking about.

You are absolutely going to love Dylan Strome's game at the worlds.

Dylan Strome is a decent add, he played well in Helsinki 3 years ago at the World Juniors so you know he can play on the big ice.

For those that haven't seen Troy Steceher much ..

He is all heart and soul... compete battle through the roof... very responsible defensively and can outlet the puck out of the zone.

??? Tavares Stone
Marchessault Couturier Reinhart
Henrique Strome Mantha
Bertuzzi Cirelli Joseph
Turris

Chabot Severson
Nurse Montour
Theodore Fabbro
Stecher

Murray/Hart/Blackwood (go with whoever plays best)

I'm still really confused by the Turris pick. I'm going to wait to see who else joins the forwards, as we can expect at least one. I think you go with your obvious all around top line built around Tavares (and probably Stone) and your matchup line with Couturier. Cirelli is tenacious and that line would be as well. With the other line you hope for some additional scoring help. The defence pairings can go a number of ways. Nurse and Theodore were a very successful WJC pairing, but I don't want two of the three LHD on the same pairing. I think that Fabbro could be good, as I recall that he was pretty good in the Spengler Cup this winter.

Lol, Couturier will be playing Center. He's literally one of the best two-way centers in the league and hasn't played a lick of wing in his career.

Also, Hart and Blackwood were both better in 18-19, so we will see.
